Why were the 1960s in the USA such a turbulent time? JFK assassinated, Vietnam War, Hippies, Civil Rights Movement, Martin Luther King Assassinated, race riots etc etc

Cold war

loss of the current power structure. Modern world's industrial advances culminate in two world wars, after which new 1st world balance of power established (usa into hegemon now). leads to economic and social prosperity of 50's.
as decade goes on new generations grow into adults with no concept of gr8 depression/ww2 turmoil. they look for their own war to fight, their own way to rebalance the power structure. the early post-modernists rebel against new deal racial injustice (CRM), american reliance on military industrial comples (hippies), and traditional gender roles (2nd wave femmes).
pet theory: history is dialectic. one generation group struggles, sets up power structure. Their kids dont see reason for parents struggle/structure, look for their own. then establish new ideals and so on.
tl;dr- ww2 prosperity could only last so long before people got bored

Assassinations are nothing new to US politics.
Billionaire elites and CIA drugging the population in their social experiments. Degenerating culture and traditional values to value capitalism and profit above all. Basically, it's when the rich starting cracking down on the commoners and middle class. This was followed by the right in particular neoconservatives who made our society more degenerate. The left now as a result is practically dead and has no power in the US.

Cold war/Communism answerers: what made the impact of the cold war stronger in the 60's than in the previous decade?

The US's age demographics were all fucked up by the baby-boom generation, by the mid sixties the majority of the American population was in their early twenties. This is why the Cuban missile crisis, JFK assassination, and the beginning of American involvement in the Vietnam War were able to trigger a youth-rebellion.
Anybody talking about the USSR subverting cultural values is retarded, the eastern bloc countries had attempted hippie movements as well that were brutally put down by their respective governments.
