How would world history change if the Atlantic rift ripped west Africa in the same direction as south America?
this would have to have taken place millions of years ago
as west africa travelled across the atlantic ocean a species of sentient eusocial jumping spiders would evolve in the new harsh environment, when the continents collide they would rapidly swarm throughout the Americas then compete with each other on a massive scale in the new lush environment, in a few 100000 years a master race of intelligent spiders would emerge and a tribe far to the north would figure out how to cross the being strait
early man would be domesticated and used as slaves for large construction projects, fearful of the extremely painful stings of their arachnid overlords
Europe could have colonised South America early in history, possibly not long after Asians as the proximity to spain would not need to long distance.
History could have been different though as the currents would have different courses. There might not have been a gulf stream to give Europe a mild climate for civilisation.
