It was 200,000 strong mate, they performed exceptionally well against German forces who were about 1.5 million strong in 1914.
The BEF was 120,000 strong and was probably the most well organised force in Europe at the time. Deploying that many men in under 3 days into action is quite a feat even compared to modern standards.
They were a major factor in halting a much larger German force that was attempting the Schleffen plan.
