Has studying history influenced your political views or worldview?
For me I've become increasingly apolitical. I've learned that what happens happens and that there's no right or wrong when it comes to actions and leadership.
>no right or wrong when it comes to actions and leadership
But this is blatantly wrong. It's hard to tell from our current situation but there are political actions that help us more than others.

Will it matter in the long-term though? If a civilization is in decline the best you can do is create a last spark of glory but the overall trend is downward.

There is nothing wrong with decline, it's natural - you can slow it down but it's impossible to prevent.

the more i know the more powerful i become and im less caring about public or otherwise collective opinion and more-so internally driven by my own designed morality, ideology, self guidance, worldview, etc

Nope.
I tend to think of history as history. Period. Shit that already happened. Bridge under the water. Unchangeable unless new perspectives come to light.
That said, it is separate from my ideals because while the past is the reason for the present, it is in no way indicative of the future, which is basically what my ideals look forward too.
Yes, I agree that history has no direction, and everyone saying otherwise is an agenda'd piece of shit like marxists/religious groups/nationalists, but I'd still stick to democratic & liberal ideals since i plain like it.
tl;dr I take history like a mature cunt.
