Best history on Germanic tribes, ancient Germanic peoples, especially in and around the region that became modern Germancy (but anything is fine).
I'm look more for overview/survey works with a broad scope, but narrow works dedicated to a single people are welcome.
PS if anyone has insight into the southern part of the region that was Germania, where people have tanner skin, brown hair, etc. I'm very interested in that.

No idea, but it's nice to see accurately sized horses.

>Germania by Tacitus
>The Barbarians Speak by Peter Wells
>The Roman Empire and Its Germanic Peoples by Herwig Wolfram
>Gesta Hammaburgensis ecclesiae pontificum by Adam of Bremen
>Ecclesiastical History of the English People by Bede
I'm sure there's more, but obviously take Tacitus, Bede and Adam of Bremen with a pinch of salt, they are all unbelievably out there in some of their statements, and everything should be seen as suspect. Wells' book is a little dry and repetitive, but it makes a really interesting point of the interactions occurring on Imperial frontiers. Also his assessment of the archeological record is quite interesting. Wolfram's by far is the best book I've read on the subject

Thank you kindly anon.
If you want pro-Celtic European history try Peter Berresford Ellis.
He's a lot better than all these anti-Celtic MUH BARBARIANS racist pigs.
