How come Mongols fell off their snowball after three generations?
You'd think the greatest military power in the world at the time would have better means of maintaining their strength.

Infighting, and a huge chunk of the empire turning muslim which as we all know turns a country into a shithole

Wouldn't Islam make their better warriors?
A die hard spirit and a tighter organization.

Because they stopped being "The Mongols" and started being this, that and the other Khanate. A few centuries later, Timur styled himself the heir to Genghis Khan, and went on a conquering spree, but his army was little different from Persian armies before or after in composition, and he held court like a Persian Shah.
I hate to use a video game comparison, but it's too perfect: They got culture-flipped.

>Why bother training, insha'Allah we'll defeat our enemy and drive them off the field!
>>1667925
No, it makes them fight with the rest of the empire because muslims are cunts about people having any other religion. It just divided the country and made it weaker

the Mongol Empire divided even before any of the Khanates converted to Jizzlam.

>military power
>maintaining
you've bought someone's memes
military power falls off within a generation or two because the only factor is having an army. if genghis doesn't teach absolutely everything he knows to his successor and get everyone to be genuinely loyal to him then what you get is civil war.

I mean if the Mamluks could become a competent military power...

Military science is a thing though.
Golden horde: russian principalities powercreep, they had too much autonomy+ general infighting
Ilkhanate: fell the earliest, black death, succession crisis, border vassals becoming more and more autonomous
Yuan dynasty: tried to divorce themselves from population with the population viewing them as evil foreign subjugators, incompetent rulers, population jumping to join any uprising against them at the end, poor handling of malcontent and uprisings in general
Chagatai: irrelevant as hell and got rekt by tamerlane but lasted a very long time

>the greatest military power in the world at the time
They literally stopped when they met European countries. It's not that hard to conquer tribes and shitty countries.

>literal mongoloid STILL mad about getting BTFO months later
Really makes you think...

Miltary science of which Genghis used was largely mass tactics, horse archer tactics, and siege tactics. The logistics of maintaing an army are different when your conquering land then from actually maintaining an empire with said military.

the whole point was to differentiate a great khan from some other chump who might decide they want the job. if it's a science instead of a skill it's yet another factor preventing civil war that you lose.
