Pretty much. He nitpicks things in some films and then ignores them in others - for example, he had a massive hard on for Agora and ignored the fact that it was a pretty unfaithful representation of the period (whereas in his other reviews he'll pick out inaccurate costumes etc.)

Yeah, you'll notice when he'll go hard on a movie just because he didn't like it as a movie, but if he does then it's just a minor quibble. Plus most of his opinions don't feel like criticism of the movie itself but of whatever political opinion he believes it is promoting, and he decides on a thumbs up/down based on how well that jives with his own beliefs. It makes him pretty inconsistent and really exposes his over-reliance on pop-history he learned from a bookstore's history section.

The presentation of Agora being this innovative free-thinker ahead of her time doesn't bother him, nor does the presentation of an American helping Luddite samurai in the Last Samurai, but Kingdom of Heaven really gets on his nerves based on what he mistakenly seems to believe are its themes. It's especially jarring when he somehow thinks the story is about Christians attacking helpless Muslims, and that he goes off on a tangent about the Crusades being a response to Muslim expansion, something which he could only have picked up reading online blogs and magazine articles.
