What some good, non meme books to read for a /his/torian who knows nothing about acient Babylon? Documentaries are welcome too.

The author, Saggs, also wrote The Babylonians, so I would start from there, after reading his article.
I just finished The Treasures of Darkness - A History of Mesopotamian Religion by Thorkild Jacobsen
But it just covers the myths and religion.
I also have the Handbook to Life in Ancient Mesopotamia by Bertman, but it's an overview of how life was like rather than a history, it will answer most of people's questions though.
