Yeah, you're quite right. Actually for the first 100 years the Vikings were in Ireland, if we're going by the annals, the Irish raided dozens more monasteries every year than the Vikings did.

This eventually did stop, though we have no idea why. The Vikings never stopped until they were defeated, so people talk about them more.
