How did other less advanced indigenous peoples think about the Aztecs, Mayans, and Inca? How did people like the Yanomamo and Tupi feel about their civilization-building neighbors? Did they regard them with the same alienation they feel toward the Modern American continents, or where they somehow closer?

What is the flag of the HRE doing there?

>Aztecs
Fear and anger. Being next to them meant you got Flower War'd for sacrifices.

Flower Wars weren't just raids for captives, anon. They were pre arranged battles between the belligerents (it wasnt uncommon for three separate parties to participate in a Flower War, by the way) with agreed upon locations and dates, but yeah for the sole purpose of taking captives, which is probably where the "Aztecs didnt try to kill their opponents they tried to capture them"

In some ways, the native empires was closer, because they traveled on foot paths.
And foot paths do allow for easier travel troughout the jungle.
Just not a lot closer.
Its not that different from how Sami/Lapp viewed Russians/Finns/Swedes a century back, or how the few remaining Saudi Nomads view modern society.

I like how the three most significant civilizations of the Americas had ways of taking advantage of their environment that the Europeans with all their technology couldn't match, as if technology of the Americas wasn't simply behind, but divergent.

Aztec had a huge population supported by chinampas, floating gardens fertized by muck dredged up from the lake.

Maya lived in an area with little accessible fresh water and therefore engineered their cities to act as rain catches that directed the rain to cisterns, which their entire culture revolved around.

The Inca used terrace farms and produced more food in that region than is even produced today.

European technology could (And of course can) handle those environments just fine. Europeans have come up with ways to deal with all three just fine (building islands, wells, and terrace farming) in Europe.

It's difficult to say because many who were less advanced, we have no written voices of them in colonial era documents. They likely viewed them differently depending on their specific relation to them. We really only get the other side, at least in Mesoamerica. Aztecs casually make fun of the Huastecs for not wearing loincloths, but praise their battle skills, Ironically the Aztecs copied the Huastec military uniforms. They viewed the Chichimecs as utter savages no different than wild animals. The Maya likewise look down on non-maya, They viewed spaniards as promiscuous degenerates and blacks like devils. The Mixtecs looked down on the Zapotecs by saying their noblewomen still grinded their own maize, while theirs were too good for that and had servants do it. They also viewed the Chontal of Oaxaca like savage animals that lived naked.

Something like that's the reason I assumed.

How do ignorant slumdwellers think about rich smart people ? a mix of worship and resentment with inferiority complex as common.

And Russia could have theoretically gone to the Moon. What's your point? The fact is that those societies did were living in ways Europeans didn't when they took over and the regions were less productive because of it.

Technology isn't a ladder. It's a repertoire of techniques. Amerindians had techniques that Europeans didn't have.

Spain was part of the Habsburg dynasty for a while.
