Was a third Anglo-American War ever feasible after 1865, or were the cultural/economic ties too strong by that point?

Cultural/economic ties weren't that strong in 1865, it wasn't until the 1890s that the Anglo-American lovefest started. And even then it's very possible.
The US could have easily ended up on the side of the Central Powers instead of the Entente in WWI, all it would take is a different president and a little luck.

Nah. The British textile industry was hugely dependent on American cotton. The American Civil War was a disaster for British textile workers.

Yes, war plan red

War Plan Red was just one of several dozen war plans, nobody thought it was really going to be used. By the time War Plan Red was drawn up (late 1920s iirc), war between the US and UK wasn't a realistic option. The US military has war plans for pretty much every conceivable threat, there was even one for aliens at one point.

The major powers of Europe were all dependent on one another economically in 1914, but that didn't stop WWI from happening.
