Nothing, except possibly a collapse in trade relations as the Germans were running out of stuff the Soviets wanted to import raw materials with the MR pact.

Military production isn't as fungible as you seem to think it is. You can't just snap your fingers and turn a tank factory into a shipyard. Britain seriously outproduced Germany in planes and ships, which are essential to make any sealion go.

The longer you wait, the worse it gets, not better, as the British lead lengthens, they recruit more troops, and fortify their beaches.

Sooner or later America enters the war and then you'll never get anywhere.


Most likely outcome is that while Germany keeps a fortress Europe together and prevents any possibility of Allied counterattack in Europe, strategic bombing intensified, and eventually goes nuclear in 1945. Germany either has a coup to oust Hitler and surrender (extremely unlikely Hitler would sign a surrender order, no matter how bad things get), or a peace after years of bombardment fail to produce the above, with Germany almost certainly having to cough most of Western Europe back up.

Hitler would have needed a huge amount of time just to build enough landing craft. Keep in mind that Sealion originally depended upon sailing flat-bottomed fucking barges across the channel to face the wrath of the Home Fleet and whatever remains of the RAF (assuming that Hitler somehow managed to win a second Battle of Britain). They would then have to land and face both the regular army and every teenager and old fogey in the country armed with whatever they can get their hands on, as well as pre-prepared anti tank-defences, pillboxes, sabotage, and a hostile population, and add to this having to fight whatever remains in the Lake District, Scottish Highlands and Wales even if England could be overran. It would probably have been a bloodbath even with adequate preparation, and indeed a simulation of it concluded that Operation Sealion would ultimately be a failure. It would probably require the entire German war machine to even come close to being a success, and with the looming threat of a growing USSR stabbing Hitler in the back, that would be very risky for Germany.

A huge invasion of Britain would have failed even worse than invading Russia. Britain had a powerful navy and they would be able to stop the majority of troops from even getting to shore.

The problem is that most of those ships are based too far away. You could conceivably get your bombers there, but not the escorting fighters (not if you want them to make it back, anyway). Good luck sinking the fleet in Hull or somewhere under those conditions.

And you'll be landing them at what airfields? You've got a few paratroopers who can make drops without that sort of infrastructure, but nowhere near enough to take all of England.

Not to meniton that they don't carry any sort of heavy equipment, and resupplying will be enormously difficult. Look how badly they got mauled at Crete, and this would be WAY worse.
