Why based guillotine fell out favor? It is relatively painless and pretty quick method of punishment. Electric chairs are fucking barbarian compared to such timeless classic.
>>
People stayed aware of what was happening around their head for quite some time when they got guillotined.

Everything is barbaric compared to lethal injection.

> People stayed aware
Can't you just guillotine them in sleep?

What're you on about? With that large a drop in blood pressure you could practically immediately go into unconsciousness and then coma, before dying a very short time afterwards.

Complete bullshit.

Basically because it looks gruesome. Modern American execution methods aren't designed to be painless but to be easy to watch.
>>
Why don't they just shoot them

>mfw I saw one of those mexican cartel executions and the victim's eyes were moving after being decapitated

I thought it was striking how Dostoevsky mentions the guillotine in his work with a kind of revulsion, characterizing it as a kind of brutal emblem for the hollowness & irony of liberal ideals.

Even dead body have some reflexive movements, actually. It isn't like you are literally static from a moment of your death.

Using the guillotine would at least be cheaper.
