I live in a rather wealthy area of north Houston that has advertisements for itself in Mexico City lol. A lot of the Mexicans moving here are not the poor border Mexicans (we have plenty of those too, they just don't attend schools around here), but the rich Mexicans from Mexico City. The first few years the kids are insufferable to teachers and students alike, but by late high school they actually integrate and do well, show respect, display American values, etc. they do still speak Spanish to each other in the halls, but they are as good with English as they are with Spanish (I knew a few kids who actually failed Spanish classes lol). So it's happening, just not terribly quickly with the poorer Mexicans because they tend to group up in relished poverty, not unlike many blacks.

Beer here is high quality and affordable, though tends to be almost all Pils (or close variations, all of which are boring as fuck) or wheat beer (which is my preference). Not a fan of the super hoppy shit Americans like to wank over though.

Traditional german cuisine in general though is nutritious and hearty. Lots of whole grains and fresh breads, seasonal foods are incredibly important (ie. asparagus season, kale (Grünkohl) season, etc.), fish, meats, etc. German beef sucks, but I avoid beef anyway. I've been all over Europe, and honestly I don't think any country appreciates fresh fruit as much as Germany does (easily verified by entering a grocery store in any country -- most are pathetic, with a couple baskets of half-rotten apples or yellow oranges, etc). Maybe only Spain is greater. I think German-Austrian desserts and pastries are among the finest in Europe, though. Not cake, as it's not very traditional here, but torts, pies, turnovers, flaky things, etc.

German food is generally never a flavour bomb, no, but the emphasis is on quality. Usually. There's a lot of terrible shit here like curry wurst, too.
