This is a common opinion (and sometimes I even agree with it) but if you think about it, it's a black hole of confusion.
How can the only known carers come to the conclusion that they are awful because they're ruining what they care about?
Should we see ourselves as fundamentally noble no matter what we do? We are the centre of value.

Humans are basically selfish and have no long-term planning skills. So what? Is there any creature we know of that isn't basically selfish, or has long-term planning skills? Does an asteroid have long-term planning skills?
The tragedy of humanity is that we can imagine a better way to do things, but can't do it. When people talk about "humans evolving into AI", what they really mean is humans intentionally destroying themselves and replacing themselves with the AI they always wished they were.
