Throughout history since the 20th century, women have constantly made their clothes more and more revealing. The dresses were long, then made shorter and shorter, and now we have what we have today.

Was it the same with men? Did they ever bitch about clothes? How did men's clothing evolve when in comparison to women's?
>>
My grandfather use to wear suits to the beach.

I'm honestly pissed I can't wear a skirt without looking like a faggot or a tranny but women can dress like men and nobody gives a shit.

I totally agree. I would be wearing leggings and skirts all the damn time. I'm not a tranny but it just feels good.

The mini-skirt was most popular in the 50s and 60s, not today. So even the premise of your question is wrong.

But sure, the Victorian era was especially prudish, and that's when the 20th century began.

As for men, their fashion has changed much less during the same period, but that's the exception, not the rule. Men's fashion changed A LOT between 1800-1900, for instance,

Women will step out of line and away from traditional values if you let them. What we have today is a failure of men to keep women in their traditional roles and require that they have some degree of respect for themselves. This has led to the breakdown of the nuclear family structure which will inevitably lead to the downfall of our society as a whole.

The problem is you aren't talking about events, you are talking about fashion. Something that has been around a lot longer, and has changed in a not so linear way, unlike what OP is trying to say.

I don't know if OP had a point he wanted to make, but this thread is shit.

Which is why it's used on a ceremmonial context here, holy fuck are you dense.

>Smartphones

Now you're just shitposting at this moment, you and all here know that western civilization is based upon Greek Philosophy and Achievements and Roman Law. It's not a matter up to debate.
>>
>>1540023

OP is talking about fashion in the 20th century, which has indeed changed in a pretty linear way (at least for women). The question OP is asking, is was this the same for men? How did men's clothing evolve in comparison to women.

This is all very clearly pointed out in the OP. The fact that fashion in the whole of history is not changing in a linear way, has nothing to do with the thread. Such observations are outside the scope of the thread, as posed by OP.
>>
>>1540042
There is no "ceremonial context" in the image he is holding a sword. The image implies this is what soldiers used.

Modern civilization is based on the works of the Muslims, which is influenced by the works of the Greeks, which were civilized by Semites, which started it all. So we have smartphones today because of Semites. Logic not even once. Greeks are incapable of reaching today's tech that's what matters.

Seersucker or linen.
>>
The women are doing it to themselves.

Ever since open sexuality in females became socially acceptable, women began dressing in more revealing clothing in order to attract men that they could now freely have sex with.

Other women realized the effect and started dressing the same way. Then another, even more revealing clothing style popularized for the same reason, and it continues.

In short, it's a progressively intensifying battle for women to be more attractive than other women. As long as most males cater to their biological instincts and choose to have sex with the most sexually provocative females, they will continue to act in this way.

If females were attracted to men mostly based on physical prowess as opposed to financial and social status, we would see this trend accelerate in men the same way it has in women.

>Throughout history since the 20th century, women have constantly made their clothes more and more revealing.

Aren't most fashion designers men? Also, isn't it more likely that the fashion industry, continuously looking for cheaper labor and raw materials, simply pushed skimpier outfits as a way to maximize profit? If you can convince someone to buy a skirt 1/8 the length of the average but for four times the price, that's a handy profit. It's not as if all clothes today are skimpy slips of nothing. Your OP pic isn't something you'd find normally walking a city street.

It seems to me that the fashion industry just capitalized on their media power to open up a hundred niche markets for women who have been targeted for decades by marketing tying their relatively newfound financial and social independence with materialism.

Men, already financially and socially independent, were not as simple to court with prolific and varied fashions, and instead marketing became all about class and status. Rather than single out the male consumer as unique, his clothes and accessories were meant to identify him with his peers, real or imagined. In short, women's fashion was meant to compete with their peers while men's fashion was meant to identify with a peer group.

Clothing took a turn in 13th century Britain as tailoring evolved. Clothes for men became more revealing and tight fitted to show off bodies. Older generations still used to wear tunics and cloaks while lamenting the younger men who wore shorts all the way up to their upper thighs and generally tight and revealing clothes.

You wouldn't think but apparently these modern "problems" occurred even during the middle ages.

>continuously looking for cheaper labor and raw materials, simply pushed skimpier outfits as a way to maximize profit? If you can convince someone to buy a skirt 1/8 the length of the average but for four times the price, that's a handy profit.
Except that the size of the garment doesn't actually matter because the materials are cheap as it is. If you halve its size you won't double your profit. The change in profit will be negligible. The reason for that is that nearly all of the price of a garment comes from the designing department and then the added price of brand. The actual material plays a minuscule role in price unless we're talking about some specific shit like leather.
