Was la independencia of latin america a mistake?
What could have been done to keep the central american federation, gran colombia, peruvian-bolivian confederation alive? Were they meant to come apart regardless?
Was BolĂvar the greatest hero or the one that fucked up the most? Perhaps both
Are you retarded? The Peru Bolivia confederation ended because Chile and Argentine invaded. Before that there weren't any signs of it failing.

that stereotype article
anyway, these confederations maybe could survive if they had a major group with the economic power to keep these countries bonded, like happened in the argentine confederation.

Independence was absolutely not a mistake because the Spaniards were already in stage 4 cultural cancer at that point.
A lot of mistakes were made afterwards, notably those stupid wars between the southern cone and the middle bulge, but those conflicts were not inevitable.
That is rather easy. Not let them fall to regionalism. And focus their attention to the protestant countries (nordic) that were terrorizing the catholics in mainland europe. Because they were orchestrating heavily on french and spanish enterprises. Who were major trading partners. Aside a culture they should have lowered the level of the intellectual a bit and should have created a more country and brutal person than the north americans. But for the most part regionalism is an issue. Their land is not flat and countries are divided by thick bush, mountain and desert. The Portuguese are to be blamed for that because it was amicable pay back. Oh and more mainland european immigrants.
