I'm guessing you think the United States won in Vietnam too.
Zerg rushing your enemies don't work when they have had time to build up their defences.

Same way the Chinese lost in the Battle of Talas. Mercenaries were not very reliable.

No, but it was very painful.
>>1516474
>disease

>Mercenaries were not very reliable.
Actually the mercenaries in the Byzantine army proved very reliable, including the Turkish cavalry auxiliaries, who actually fought to the death.
The problem were the backstabbing Doukas cucks, who, like on so many other occasions, brought ruin to the empire in their desperate bid for power. They withdrew from the battle when they were called upon by the emperor, causing chaos and confusion in the Byzantine army, even causing some men to rout, thinking that the battle was lost.
Also, the pic in this post: >>1515590 is shopped, the numbers weren't that lopsided, though the Byzantines did have a numerical advantage.

in every engagements the more numerous and more disciplined byzantine infantry defeated the arabs infantry, but this guy manouvered his reserve cavalries in such a way that the arab lines didnt break, he did this literally every single time

>byzantine casualities :45% of entire army or 50,000+ killed

Never said it wasn't, just that there are greater generals
Its really funny how eastern Europeans wave these battles on the face of the Ottomans and call them weak while they still got duminated by the ottoman for five hundred years and are still Butthurt about it.
>the Ottomans lost every war ever but we let them have half of europe, constantinople, middle east, and north africa out of pity
lol
>>1517237
The Ottomans only won when the Europeans fought each other and thus made it easier for them, but when they allied they fucked shit up (Lepanto, Vienna)

Lost the war
The Shimazu are kind of famous for that.
Their two main strategies were:
1- Feigned retreat
2- Kill the enemy general
Having better soldiers than the others didn't hurt, either.
One of their best generals, once charged with 5,000 men against Toyotomi Hideyoshi's 170,000. And almost came close to him. Fans of medieval warfare know how enormous a 170,000 men army is.
I wonder how crazy would be history if Niiro Tadamoto succeeded in killing Hideyoshi.
>>1517138
You know the Christians didn't really outnumber the Turks in that battle?
>>1517138
What the subhuman Turks wanted to say is that the Crusaders were vastly outnumbered and actually winning the battle because their leader - the Polish king was shot to death by several crossbow projectiles.

They rarely like to be reminded of the Belorussian Strategic Offensive Operation.
>>1517260
The Crusade of Nicopolis is you being saved by the charge of the heavy Serb cavalry, the Crusade of Varna is you outnumbering the Crusades by half a score, the Battle of Mohacs is one of your rare, legitimate victories, the Battle of Kosovo is you losing most of your army, Bayazit being forced to retreat because he couldn't breach the left flank which was led by Vlatko"break the Turk whore and fuck her until she's swolle " Vukovic.
>people like to forget before vienna and lepanto the Ottomans literally dominated warfare for hundred of years
People like you also tend to forget that it took the Ottomans 229 years to conquer the most sparsely populated part of the European continent, even though as the same time, they had to contend with the Venetians and the Hungarians.
Also, what's with the battle of Bileca and Plocnik?
>>1517282
It's because they had no more men to spare, they've wasted most of them in fighting off the Ottomans for almost two and a half century
>Because nobody gave a shit about Eastern Europe
Just because Eastern Europe is largely insignificant today doesn't mean that she was back then too, the reason why no one gave a fuck about her is because she was predominately of Catholic faith.
>The moment they tried expanding into Western Europe
Meme knowledge.
I'm just say Battle of Curupayty.
