In many ways philosophy has been replaced by science. In science ideas must adhere to varies logical stipulations while no such criteria exist in philosophy.
Philosophy is merely baseless abstract assertions.

Despite this I still think humanities can offer a lot of insight and wisdom, and it's still fun to learn about various ideas regardless of whether or not you believe them.

Philosophy sets out the foundations for every particular science. This is obviously true historically but is still the case today, and I don't see it changing. Hard sciences deal with particular problems, it's philosophy that forms a worldview. All the talk today about scientific, rationalist worldviews already imply a specific philosophy. How can you have a "scientific" frame of mind? Outside of a scientist's given field, he is just as clueless as everyone else about other things if he lacks study.
