I can't even begin to fathom how people of the past had the patience to do all this tedious shit to just get by

Makes me appreciate modern conveniences though
>>
why is this dude shirtless in every video even when anyone can see from his tanning that he's usually wearing a t-shirt outside? is he some sort of exhibition fetishist or some other pervert?
>>
>>1483146
He's got a pretty hot bod
>>

He doesn't want to mess up his clothes. He actually has an office job somewhere, at least he did before his channel got big.

>>

copper is rare, and requires a rather precise mixture with other ores to obtain bronze.

iron became dominant because of its ease of production and strength.
>>
>>1483196
that's why i (and most normal people) use some random crappy clothes while doing dirty stuff, he's probably too when he's off-camera. that dude is exposing himself on purpose.
>>
>>1483238
Maybe when he is in the woods he likes being shirtless, maybe he likes the maneuverability of being topless, maybe he likes people looking.

It doesn't matter, he is doing more than you and being recognized for it.

A social disorder in which the sufferer experiences difficulty in understanding social ques and context. The brain however better understands patterns and repeating sequences and has a rigged understanding of the world. This can come in the form of an impulsive obsession with pattern and order and a rejection of anything that doesn't fit in with preconcieved idea of the world.

When presented with a situation when this pattern is not met, this can cause great distress and confusion in the sufferer.

In this instance, this fucking autist can't handle that a man is topless for whatever reason.
>>
>>1483413
i'm quite slim. maybe not as fit as him but fit enough that it's not about body issues. he's just attention whoring exhibitionist.

Hunting is limited to feral animals on private property with landowners’ permission to hunt on the property.
Only a current firearms licence is required to hunt on private property. There is no hunting permit or fee applicable. Full licence holders must be 18 years of age and children of at least 11 years can use firearms under a minors licence with adult supervision.
Queensland doesn’t have any species currently classified as game that can be taken by recreational hunters during an open season.
The following animals are some of the species classified as pests and can be taken any time.

Bali cattle
Bison or American buffalo
Camel
Chital (Axis) deer
Donkey
European hare
Fallow deer
Hog deer
Cat, other than a domestic cat
Dingo
Dog, other than domestic dog

-write a program in assembly

which would give a result of opcodes and memory locations in binary. it'd be tedious but not incredibly difficult. most of the time people think it's really hard because they're given misleading information

You have to realize that it's not like there was anything else to do.

What motivates you? What drives you? What satisfies you?

You might joke about wanting to lay around all day, but if we're being honest, that gets pretty depressing. People like to set goals and accomplish them. Anyone who's built a working trap, bow, or some other contraption can attest to the fact that it's pretty rewarding. Hunter-gatherers did it constantly, and on top of that, their survival depended on it.

Also I say this as someone who does in fact lay around all day and is depressed because of it. kek

I've watched a few of his first videos. While I'm in complete awe of the techniques, I have to question whether the huts can hold up against any kind of rough weather and whether this is how our ancestors built their huts. The mud walls look like they can be washed away easily, the tile and leaf roof look like they can be blown away. I know he doesn't claim this is the way they built their huts, but the techniques and materials have to be very similar.

Did our ancestors simply repair their huts after every storm or did they lash down their roofs?
>>
>>1498317
At least with the tile and thatched roofs, those will last a while.

Thatch will hold up for years, and tiles will hold into the decades.

But yeah, you do want to do regular maintenance for anything made out of mud.
>>
>>1498326
>>Thatch will hold up for years, and tiles will hold into the decades.
That's if they are left alone by the weather. I'm trying to figure out how they were secured so they don't all blow away on a windy day. It looks like he just sets everything on the frame without lashing it down.

Tiles might be able to rely on their weight, but you need something to secure the palms, leaves, etc. That tree resin he used in one video perhaps?
>>
>>1498361
For the thatched stuff everything was tied together with improvised cordage.

I think the tiles are just gravity.

I wonder what the weather is like in north Queensland.
>>
>>1498372

>I wonder what the weather is like in north Queensland.
He stated in the description of one of his videos that he had to stop building for several weeks due to rain. He would have had to rebuild those mud walls everyday here in Britain.
>>
>>1498387
Dry mud is pretty hard, and the roof keeps a lot of the rain away from the walls.

I think as long as you keep dabbing new mud on the outside to replace the stuff that's washed away, you'll be good.

Not on camera, but thats the metal. Its "iron bacteria", basically some bacteria that only lives in iron rich water and you can take water where it exists (the brown goop is such water) and be sure that it has iron in it.
The other ingredients were ashes and clay, just to give the iron some form. Iron plus the burning wood makes the end result, the clay and ashes aren't important.

People had leisure activities even then. It's not like they had nothing to do but work. As with today, though, those leisure activities came second to work because work is sustenance. The result then was a tool, or food, or anything else, and now today it's money you can buy said stuff with.

Women. Programmers were women when people did punch cards in binary. Grace Hopper, a woman, developed the first compiler so they wouldn't have to program in binary. So pretty much all the binary punchcarding was done by women. By the time it became a male dominated field, they weren't doing binary with punchcards.
>>
>>1505254

x86 ASM is pure hell as well, but at least you don't need to make a new punch card every time you fuck it up. ASM is pretty much a textual human-readable translation of CPU opcodes.

That's fucking awesome. I didn't even know that bacteria were a source of iron, that's really cool. I wonder if it's a sustainable, useful source though, or if he'll have to do more serious prospecting later on.

I also wonder how far he's going to go with this. Will he be making nails and hinges from iron next? Will he construct a bloomery and make steel? Is he going to scavenge for naturally occurring sulfur and create firearms? What if this guy surpasses the rest of the world in terms of technology? I'm scared of what this guy can achieve. well, what's happening is the bacteria is basically leeching iron out of the groundwater and depositing it in that slime, so it's a renewable source. I'm pretty sure he built the mud hut over those few months, not just in the last few days of it.
