Why did the US develop such a strong relationship with Israel when it was run as essentially a socialist country up until the 1980s?
Where is the ideological convergence?
because alot of rich people in america are jews
Because the eternal anglo decided that Israel should exist and we agreed.
America didn't become allies with Israel until the '73 war.

True, but aside from that, Israel has always been friendly towards the U.S. and unfriendly towards the Soviets.

>always
Not at all. Many Israelis have been communists and Stalin even supported Israel greatly, but sometimes in the 50s they said FUCK YOU to the USSR and aligned themselves with the west. The Soviets started arming up Palestinians and other Arabs as a response.

The US doesn't need "ideological convergence" to ally with a nation.
Currently they are arming and funding the anarkiddies in Rojava, because they are an ally of convenience in the US effort to fracture and destroy the Syrian state. As soon as that conflict is resolved - Rojava will cease to exist - their use to the USA having expired.

it was basically another Turkey during the Cold War, in the way Russians had Cuba.
The US didn't really support Israel up until the late 60s. Before then they were primarily supported by France, Germany and the UK. In fact the US actually blocked a number of arms transfers of surplus equipment like jet fighters and Patton tanks that had previously been provided by the US to France/Germany/Italy, who then decided to re-export them after upgrading to newer locally produced vehicles. At the time the US and UK only conducted "balance" arms transfers. For example: Israel buys Mystere swept-wing fighters from France, the UK approves advanced fighter sales to the Arabs. Egypt purchases Centurion tanks, but Israel is allowed to buy the same number. Arab states buy new MiG-23 fighters, the US approves a sale of HAWK SAM launchers in 1962. And so on and so on.
But then the Soviets started heavily supporting the Arab states (which also marks the start of Islamic terrorism as we know it, but that's another topic), so US support was increased after the Six Day War when it became clear that the USSR wasn't respecting this balance philosophy and the Arab states were drifting further into their sphere.

So what you're saying is that the jews are behind this

I'd wager the Jews were somehow involved
