The U.K. Was the greatest nation in all of history

>first global superpower
>controlled the trades
>pax britannica
>ruled the waves, strongest navy in history
>contributed most to humanity
>thousands of inventions and discoveries
>English language lingua Franca due to British colonialism
>best colonists
>industrial revolution
>biggest empire

The only thing /his/ cucks use is the "muh hide on your island" retort which isn't true, ww2 for example UK fought in north/east Africa, middle-east, Malta, Persia, Greece and Italy before d-day. Or the "couldn't get European clay" retort which is a load of bs, Germany, France, Austria etc all fought over little castles to try and conquer Europe and they all failed.

The first global superpowers were the US and USSR

The Britits empire lived in a world where empires of equal standing existed. While its navy was top tier, men laughed at its army. Not to mention had to contend with American and German industry, which even overtook British industry by the close of the 19th Century.

A super power ins't constituted by its army and even so Britain's army was the only fully professional army in 1914 with no conscription.
What makes a super power is its influence on other nations. Britain was the economic super power and the policeman of the world with no equals during its pax. And when Britain did get involved on the continent they preformed rather well, see the Crimean war.

>>

Nah, the UK still had their navy which was undisputed which kept their interests and power. Germany only started to rival UK when they built their navy up.

In Spanish colonies natives and mixed racep spanish-native people were the majority of the society, that is why Mexicans look like Mexicans and Peru/Bolivia/Guatemala/Nicaragua still have native majorities.

In the British colonies you either had slave colonies of blacks in the caribbean (something the british did to a much larger degree than the Spaniards who cared mainly about silver and gold), and a european society in the future USA in which natives were not a part of the society, and only existed to be killed and pushed to the west to make room for more european colonists.

And the British were hunting Bushmen in South Africa, and Abos in Australia, as if they were animals, in very recent times.

>Isn't percentage that what matters though?

Of course not. The rest of the EU has a much larger population than the UK so the percentage is obviously going to be greater in the EU's favour.

You'll get hurt more than we do if you decide to be harsh. The German car industry has already pretty much ordered Merkel to make sure the UK doesn't get frozen out.

>I find this lack of understanding concerning, particularly from a German, who do you think is exporting all this stuff to us? Hint: it ain't Romania.
Well, even if we have no trade deal, it doesnt mean that we wont have any trade with UK.

>>
>>1453233

>Are you saying that losing 500$ for somebody who owns 1000$ hurts less than losing 1000$ for somebody who owns 10000$?

>Plus, getting a big cut of that sweet financial sector from London will clearly benefit us

Not going to happen. The City of London is much more at risk from all the anti-banking regulation that the EU was discussing and funded the Brexit campaign.

I'm not even in favour of it but if you honestly think German and French politicians are going to be bigger banker dick suckers than British ones then you are wrong!

The bullshit about japanese inventions being 5% gives lie to the entire thing.

It's fucking not though.

France is objectively a better country than England.

I can't fucking wait for your Muslim country to be torn apart by independence referendums and economic ruin.

That's a study made by an American, based on references in works written in an Anglo-dominated era. And it still puts France at about the same level as England. But to get a version free from Anglo bias, you'd probably have to take away about 20% from England and add 10% to France.

The fact is France simply did contribute more than England in just about every field.

>Pax Britannica
Of all the delusional history memes made up by Brits, this must be one of the top 10 most ridiculous. The "Pax Britannica" is one of the most violent and war-filled times in history.

At its height, France dominated the West not just politically but culturally too, to the point where nobility across Europe would speak French even to each other within the same country. And France was also capable of taking on all of Europe militarily and winning. And France was in this hegemonic position three times, twice during the Middle Ages, and once during Enlightenment.

By contrast, even during the short period of English political dominance during the 19th century, France was still more relevant culturally, and England was still not capable of defeating anyone on its own, having to rely on others fighting for it as it always did.

Define who is a "significant figure" and who is not. Define what is a "significant event" and what is not. Also, most if not all of the countries listed didn't even fucking exsist in the 1400's.

>i-it's propaganda when anglos dominated the world (pax britannica)
>pax britannica is bs

wot? Also France was the lingua Franca but it was never on the same magnitued as English is today. Also France was never a global hegemonic power and basically became UK's bitch; see crimean war and second opium war. None of those wars during that era threatened British dominance besides the crimean war and the UK completely rekt china on it's own. The UK's influences in trade and diplomacy made the UK an "informal" empire as the UK had so much influences over places it technically didn't control.

>The fact is France simply did contribute more than England in just about every field.

Lol no

>>1453688
Not an argument, you can just look that up on the dictionary
>>
>>1453683
the thing is, the entire thing would be a loaded dice from the start. The Industrial revolution started in england, and so several peripheral inventions were made there based on the steam engine. If you count each of them separately, the number of inventions goes up exponentially.
>>
>>1453728
>Not an argument, you can just look that up on the dictionary
"Scientific advancement" is probably also in the dictionary, but it doesn't make certain graphs less bullshit. Also good job on ignoring the rest of my post.

>wot? Also France was the lingua Franca but it was never on the same magnitued as English is today
>English is relevant today because of the UK
I really hope you don't believe this
>>
>>1453728
>Also France was the lingua Franca but it was never on the same magnitued as English is today
No, it was on much higher magnitude. Today, people from the same country don't speak to each other in English. But in the 18th century, German nobles would speak TO EACH OTHER in French. Same in Russia and in many other countries.

Also this is all quite irrelevant since the current dominance of English isn't even due to England but entirely to America.

>Also France was never a global hegemonic power
France dominated Europe politically for a combined 700 years or so of Western history. England did for barely 100. During those periods, France could take on the combined forces of every other major power and win. The UK never even won a war by itself against anyone more powerful than Argentina.

>Lol no
Lol yes.

France completely obliterates England in art, architecture, literature, music, mathematics, chemistry, medicine, philosophy, engineering, and inventions. The only areas where England can hold its own are physics and biology, and even there it's probably below France.
>>
>>1453778
>art
Sure
>architecture
Sure
>music
Not at all in recent decades (but yeah in terms of "classical" music France wins but both France and England combined don't touch Bach)
>Literature
Lol fuck off lad that's completely wrong (but it probably just comes down to opinion)
>inventions
Debateaeaeble. Newtons laws of physics are extremely important, as is Penicillin.

Overall these arguments tend to be less about history and learning, and more about muh country dickwaving.

Maybe that's why the EU was formed.
>>
>>1453757
the graph inventions etc are from people that were in duchy's/kingdoms whatever that partly constituted to what those countries became at that time.
English became the lingua franca due mostly because of america and america talks English because of British colonialism

>>1453778
Nah it wasn't, the world wasn't connected as it is now. wow nobles do? When I went to the netherlands and sweden I heard tons of average dutch and Swedish talking to eachother in English.

Yea and America speaks English because of successful British colonialsim over the French, Spanish dutch etc.

>The UK never even won a war by itself against anyone more powerful than Argentina.

The UK beat China

lol no, the industrial revolution alone sides with the UK massively so how can France beat the UK in engineering? You're talking out of your arse m8, I agree with architecture, literature and philosophy tho

This list size alone just shows desu even if it's wiki

>>

You can't count aristocracy, they usually had their own parallel culture which had little or nothing to do with the host country.
>>
>>1453852
For music I was thinking classical, though for recent I'm not too sure either. France has electronic music which is pretty major.

Newtons laws of physics are physics, not an invention.

>>1453857
>When I went to the netherlands and sweden I heard tons of average dutch and Swedish talking to eachother in English.
Yeah no that has to be bullshit, the Netherlands and Sweden are the most cucked countries in Europe but not even they could be that cucked.

>Yea and America speaks English because of successful British colonialsim
Yeah and it exists because of successful France kicking Britain's ass. Stop trying to ride on America's coattails, America's achievements aren't England's achievements.

>The UK beat China
That was the UK and France.

>how can France beat the UK in engineering
The Suez Canal, Vauban fortresses, the Eiffel Tower, the Millau Viaduct, aeronautics, cars, trains, nuclear power, Arianespace... the only great engineering projects England participated in happened in collaboration with France, like the Channel Tunnel or the Concorde.

As for inventions, the list for France is pretty impressive. The mechanical clock, automobile, steam engine, internal combustion engine, aircraft, airplane, helicopter, photography, film, computer, vaccine, antibiotics, can all be attributed mostly to France. Britain isn't far behind though.

>>1453865
Tell me where so I can mock them.
>>
>>1453901
Doesn't change that it's a sign of enormous French influence at the time, just like the preeminence of English today is a sign of American influence (not British though).
>>
>english dogs
>>
>>1453916
I'm not bsing desu, even when i went to majorca i noticed it sometimes

I never said it was a British achievement

Nope just the UK in the first battle, then as France wanted to keep good relations with the UK because they were the global hegemony they helped the UK in the second war

Yea and how do you think those exist in the first place? The industrial revolution. You're delustion m8, antibiotics were British, steam engine was British, airplane/aircraft was american/German, vaccine was british, mechanical clock was chinese, nuclear power was more british/german, "father of the computer" is an englishman, train was invented by Richard Trevithick a brit.... etc.

The industrial revolution didn't create inventions, that's the scientific revolution.

>antibiotics
Louis Pasteur

>steam engine
Denis Papin

>aircraft
Montfolfier brothers

>airplane
A whole series of inventors, almost all of them French (Jean-Marie Le Bris, Felix du Temple, Clement Ader...) although the one to make the first proper controlled self-propelled heavier than air flight with autonomous takeoff was only half-French (Alberto Santos-Dumont).

>vaccine
Louis Pasteur

>mechanical clock
Gerbert d'Aurillac

>nuclear power
I didn't even claim that as French lol.

>computer
First mechanical calculator by Blaise Pascal, first programmable machine by Joseph Marie Jacquard.

>train
Again never claimed as a French invention (although once you have the steam engine, the automobile, and rails, it's pretty obvious), just that France is better at train-related engineering, see high speed rail.
>>
>>1454185
Louis Pasteur's greatest achievement was the practice of heating up milk. He had nothing whatsoever to do with antibiotics
>>
>>1454237
He discovered the process of antibiosis, and the first naturally occurring antibiotics.

He also discovered vaccination, the process behind fermentation, and proved the germ theory of diseases. He can be considered the father of microbiology and of modern medicine.

>The EU exports more to us then the other way round
>imports are bad

When will people discard throughly outdated economic models? Mercantilism isn't designed to maximize a nation's wealth or employment, it was there to create a balance of trade that left more precious metal in the hands of the king so that he could fight wars back when we use commodity currencies. Britian exporting things to the EU makes them both richer. Britian importing things from the EU makes them both richer. Free trade has no major effect either way on the long-term empolyment rate in either area, and raises real wages. What a fucking idiot.
