We don't. Liberals (and Fascists) aren't evil. They are irresponsible kids with weapons.

Well if you read his own account of it - which should be taken with a grain of salt since he's probably shifting a little blame - he suggests that part of why Gallipoli went so wrong is because it took others too damn long to actually get the gears moving. His plan was to hit the place fast but it ended up taking months of pussyfooting and letting the Turks prepare. The navy was being really finnicky and cautious, as well, and they ended up not pressing their advantage when all the turkish forts were basically totally out of ammunition and Constantinople was out of mines.
