well i remember seeing it on wikipedia but i couldn't find it once i went back, it seemed like a specific military term but i'm not 100% unfortunately.
There's the holmgang, but it's a specific kind of duel common to the ancient Norse, where two combatants agreed to a life-and-death duel on a small island. Probably not what you meant but maybe?
