But the Chinese Empire in its history in itself is not anti-Christian. It is open to all religions provided you weren't subverting Confucian morality or messing with the government.

Also everyone who died did so because of agricultural failures more than Taipings killing people. If anything, it's Christians that got removed in the Taiping rebellion since it was crushed and thousands of their supporters were executed.
