Why have so many failed to conquer all of Russia despite generally smacking the Russian army around outside of the nation?
Everyone undersestimates Russian leaderships lack of respect for the lives of their own people.
Russia 'beat' napoleon by burning down everything east of moscow and moscow itself. The peasants suffered greatly so the Czar could keep trading with enlgand. Its a fucking joke.

According to that map the Mongols did run through the place and got into Eastern Europe but all of Russian was never completely part of the golden horde.

The Mongol conquest was Russia era of silence. Its a national humiliation that Russian histories kept silence. Poles and Magyars aren't to happy about it either seeing as how they tore through the region and only turned back due to deaths in leadership. Russian principalities were tributary vassals, if the horde asked them to jump they'd say how high. The internal collapse of the Mongols is the only reason the Ruskies expanded.

Russia is like reverse Vietnam. They have the time honored strategies of obnoxious weather and throwing enough men at the enemy until they get annoyed and give up.

The problem with Russia is the further you get into it the war gets harder because your troops and supply lines begin to get spread thinner and thinner that it's near impossible to get very far at all.
It's like trying to spread butter on the road.

Biggest mistake Poland ever made.
They could have been massive, strong and not be part of a religion with a cuck pope.

Well officially he was a tsar for 2 years.
But how would that work? Would it be a separate state that happens to have a foreign monarch with perhaps some ties to the Commonwealth based on family relations? I know that Sigmund III would be the first to die and his son would be the ruler of both states (personal union) but Poland chose their monarchs in the elections. So would the Commonwealth change into a quasi-Holy Roman Empire. The elections would stay but the Vasa dynasty would win each time to rule both Commonwealth and Russia?
