Mostly because most parts of the Muslim world hadn't been Imperialist for several centuries, even a thousand years for a few. The last time there was an expansionist Islamic empire based in Syria was the Umayyad Caliphate, and maybe the Zengids if you count them.

The Turks don't have an issue with imperialists so much as their neighbors, since they were the imperial power for much of their own history.
