My grandfather was a silesian peasant.

I have a lot of anecdotes from my country (Bulgaria), since we were Axis allies, some German soldiers were stationed here and all older people who had contact with them tell only good stories (how they were polite, paid for everything, helped and so on) and then the red army liberators came and the rapes and the usual liberation from property began. Fun fact is the only red army graveyards here are from soldiers who were shot for war crimes and soldiers who got poisoned because they were trying to get drunk from stole medical spirits from the drug stores.
