How do I overcome this completely overwhelming feeling? I know that this likely a self-realization that is necessary and very uncomfortable for anyone who takes history very seriously, but this is a new sensation for me. How do you and have you all overcome this dilemma?

Like the first two guys said, embrace it. I actually find it quite uplifting, there isn't a "correct" side you have to pick in historical events, you can learn as much as possible and make an informed decision but there's always more to discover!

I think I'm having a crisis like this at the moment. My studies and personal interests of history, biology, astronomy and psychology along with humanities has had a really profound effect on my look on life, I'd say it's significantly improved my life altogether.
