Yeah but a ton of the webms that get posted on /a/, almost no one uploads them to the boorus that do support webms, they usually end up lost and forgotten along with old shows. You either have to redownload a show or movie and remake them yourself or hope that someone saved the original one and since google doesn't do webms much, why not have a booru for it?

I mean being able to find webms with a god tier tagging system like the boorus would make things a whole lot easier. I'm sure a lot people hate always needing to redownload a show and/or remaking the same webms all the time or looking for older ones or having to keep up with folders and mega links with them.

For reading I use Honeyview, which is by far the fastest image viewer I've found. Its only downsides are the terrible gif support (slow to open, slow to display, take a lot of memory, etc.) and lack of support for webm video streams

I've been using Nvidia control panel for color correction and it works great but different encodes require different settings. It's annoying having to change the settings for each file every time I play it.

Anyone have an idea for solving this?

I also reccomend the sharpening and noise filter in nvidia control panel, it works really well.

There's one manga I've not been able to recover that's driving me insane as I can't remember the name or artist.

Power, that's why. Tag searching allows you to move faster. Perhaps you don't mind manually filtering through things, I prefer making the machine do the work for me.
If you have a giant collection, multiple terabytes of content, then scrolling will only get you so far.
Throwing things in folders will allow for categorical organisation, but throws away a lot of valuable info. For example, perhaps you want to find a collab doujin between multiple authors, which author's folder would that go in?
Etc.
Data redundancy is a different issue entirely though I can see why people are mentioning it given the "ex goes down" discussion.

Plus there are tons of convenience features that would appeal to other users such as yourself.
For example, there's a client that will scan for new content from your favourite artists, that way you can keep up to date with all of their work.

Look. The people that develop this stuff, they're programmers. Programmers are wired in such a way that they want to solve problems. For this to be possible, there has to be a problem to begin with. As of right now, the most cost effective solution to takedowns is simply having a copy of the data locally.
Expecting a site host migration or new policy for DMCA handling is pretty unrealistic.
Takedowns are a reality, this is glorified piracy after all. Clients don't solve the issue, but I don't need them to. As soon as I've got a local copy the problem no longer applies to me.

You can then just point the heavy desktop clients to it through network shares or someshit.

NASes are also pretty convenient for general storage since you can access them from any computer.

How do you become part of a scanlation team? I only just started getting into h-manga a few weeks ago so I don't know who the big translators are, but I think I would like to help out, possibly a smaller group?

I lived in Japan for a short while, my Japanese reading is not great but I'm pretty sure that using an electronic dictionary I could translate pretty much any manga after learning some terminology.
