Candy and /koe/ guy has made a storage server dedicated to backup/upload voice works within' it.

The storage space for the server is currently 512 GB big and requires a sFTP client in order to connect and download/upload (such as FileZilla, WinSCP etc.). Downloaders are able to just connect and download. As for uploaders who wish to contribute something... get a IRC client, connect to the channel and ask for permission. Candy and /koe/ guy will be sitting there and talk with you. This is to prevent from random people to just join and fill the server up with random crap.

You can also visit voice.station.moe in order to check if a certain voice work has been uploaded or not. If you wanna check a full listing of what's been uploaded, connect to the sFTP instead or search "RJ" at voice.station.moe for
most of the DLSite's stuff. All informations regarding about what username, password, host address etc. and how to get permission to upload stuff, can be found at the FAQ page. Click on the image in order to see the url for the FAQ.

I'm trilingual, starting on my fourth (Russian), and I've come to the conclusion the West (or at least America) simply doesn't know how to teach foreign languages. I have a few ideas why this is, but I don't know for sure so I won't say too much about it. Generally speaking, the more formal the class is, the less effective it is.

I learned my Japanese basics by watching anime. If you keep your ears open, even you can understand one or two words without reading the subs. You piece things together like a puzzle. For example, you hear "X Y Z". You know X and Y, but don't understand Z. Then you read the subs. You can now fill in the blank. Use google translate if necessary (you type in the English translation and find the result that matches what you hear; don't bother learning how to read/write, just remember how it sounds). Learn one word at a time.

Several years later I could watch anime and understand 70-80% without subs. Then I looked up the Japanese alphabet for the first time. I didn't use any online courses. I already knew the romaji phonetics so all I had to do was rewire my brain to think in kana instead of romaji. I had pic related open at all times on my second monitor at all times.

So obviously not everyone can wait a few years. I've done some research and found most multi-linguists agree that you should completely stay away from writing until you master your listening basics. You're basically trying to emulate how you learned your first language: as a baby you listened to your parents speak around you. Long before you could write, you could understand others speak. Find a course that does this.

I recommend the DJT threads on /a/, as the OP posts there have an enormous number of links. But as for what I did, I started by learning the kana (simple trial and error rote memorization, only took a day or two). After that I read through Tae Kim's online grammar guide (just google it).

From there I used the Anki SRS program to learn basic words. At this point with my basic grammar and vocab, while watching subbed anime I could often listen and hear a sentence in which I only didn't know one word. I would then proceed to look the word up. This combined with Japanese music, VNs, LNs, a bunch more anime, and now even voice works have brought me to where I am now, which is able to understand the vast majority of things.

Some people bitch and moan that you shouldn't learn so much with otaku shit, but if you aren't stupid you'll come out of it fine. I learned using 90% anime stuff and I know not to go around shouting 貴様 at people like some manga character, or not to end all of my sentences with なのです like a cute loli might do, etc.

You are mostly correct. I'm learning also learning Japanese this way, Spanish being my native and English my second.

Unfortunately, you won't ever find a system that works like this for several reasons. First, time constraints. Time is money, you pay for the courses, so longer courses are more expensive. Most people want to learn as fast as possible so there is a limit of how much Japanese they can listen, we're talking about years VS months here.

Maybe the current methods aren't the best but they are cheap, fast and give average results. You want to learn like a gourmet, that's ok, but most people want the fast food version.
