I'm making a logo for a small animated series. What I have so far feels too crowded/ complex though. I cannot decide what to get rid of. Ideas on how to improve it?
I also see that the "Pirate Bay" part is kind of hard to read, but I would love to keep that metal on wood look. How do I adjust this?
0/10 OP. Try harder. Lurk moar.

I am not the one deciding the title, my task is to create the logo around it.

Try using a singol material for the wood and same font for the texts.
If you want to use wood try to make it looks like it's carved, the text shouldn't go over the holes

get references of similar pirate titles (on pinterest search game titles) and start over , use two different fonts with more contrast and align all the text in the center and also do the text sepparate from the text holders and then combine them add the effects later.

'pirates of the pirate bay' sounds redundant
I see where you're coming from in approach I think its just too many ideas in one. I also think you missed an opportunity by having the font face on the wooden plan not caved into the wood.
try working the typography around a single focal point, like a map or a treasure chest.
