My man, calling that minimalism is a bit of a stretch. But I'm surprised you think 'normies' don't like it, that botanical / geometric white text fad is 2 years deep now

Bold text, preferably in caps, centered, background image that is always either blurred or darkened. It is pretty simple and I see it everywhere. How do you feel like this? It is relatively easy to do compared to some other styles.

I'd basically like to know how do designers feel about this style and if they think it is cheap, because I see it everywhere.

And okay, I admit that is not a "minimalism", but it is still pretty minimalistic - I don't know how else to call it.

What a tough question. People have been debating this for centuries. Is any art or design better because it's more difficult to do? In some ways, yes. In some ways, no.
Depends who's doing it, why they're using it, where it's being used, how much it's being used, etc.

I reckon for those YouTube videos it's perfect and not cheap. A great photo + clear and interesting typeface is ideal design for thumbnails. Great design is also knowing WHEN to use what style.

the OP image isn't minimalism, consider minimalism, black and white with the least amount of text as possible. Type isn't the only part of minimalism
