Hey /gd/ I asked a friend of mine who studies graphic design to design me a logo for use across business cards, websites, watermarks etc and this is what he came up with. I'm a photographer so he incorporated an aperture in the logo, its an R since my name is Rory.
Since we're both relatively new to this world we're looking for some critical advice or feedback. What would you guys do differently? It doesn't look quite right to me.
>>
I don't think I've ever seen a photographer use a shutter in their logo. Very creative and unique!

Also the polygon shutter clashes with the R's curved leg.

I see flying pizza slices or paperplanes.. Also, looks kind of unfinished for some reason.

Boring but inoffensive

Im tilted because its not centered

Aperture*
>>

what are you talking about?
everything on the internet that has anything to do with photography uses that same form.

its not unique, but it does the job..so

plus the pizza thing
>>
I think it's workable. Helps not to overthink these kinds of things. If I had to refine it, I would make the hexagonal aperture sections rounded to the R letter form. It begins to get lost there I think, and play around with the angles on the aperture elements. There's too much motion in the shape, if that makes sense?

Well i think it looks pretty good
>>
I like it. The tail of the R needs some tweaking. I'd try shrinking the aperture slightly to give the tail some more length. Maybe make the aperture a bit more rounded too.

Nice idea for sure

I don't like the curvy part. also the other "leg" can just go straight down without losing the aperture theme.

lol

it's bumpy

straight lines instead of curves could be the answer
