Honestly network costs are still an underrated problem in tech. It's fine when you have a website noone uses. Push a petabyte or two of CDN traffic a month and you'll be spending more than a home costs keeping it up.

Was feeling nostalgic for a 90s Football game (Anstoss 2 Gold), played it and encountered a bug that would make the game crash after you win the World Cup because the video file it was playing is corrupt with the standard installation.

So I asked an active forum that still plays games Ascaron produced to provide a link to the video file from Anstoss 2004, which seems to be compatible with Anstoss 2.

The fucking dude PM'd the file and even said so in the thread, felt weird to actually experience this meme myself.
So I just hosted the file myself and made it public by replying in the same thread with the link to download it...

I don't get it, why PM the answer?

Now, some sites are pretty good. Mkyong tends to have some short and to the point guides to get you started with the basic stuff in a framework or this or that.

But baeldung can get fucked.

I think that this is one of the larger problems with Java to be honest. Just so many Indians fanning their balls and almost no good information.

Google something relatively difficult. Say you want to find ALL text files that have some text in them, matching a regular expression. You'll immediately get good results for GNU and Windows toolchains.

Now "how do I get hold of the Spring dependency injector", something I tried to figure out by just googling (there should be oodles of results telling you how to do this basic bitch thing, right?), was a bad life choice.


Well lesson learned.

The problem though is that there's so much shit advice on Java these days that people create shitty code that isn't modern, good or fun. You can write good code in Java, but people just don't, and I blame India.
