Hey, /g/. Let's have a VOIP thread.
I'm interested in setting up something like Asterisk to handle my home phone service. How would I go about doing something like this? Do I have to have an existing POTS service to connect it to? What about SIP services?
Is that an outdoor server??

I'm running free pbx on an old raspberry pi model B and a google voice sip trunk. I have two old polycom phones I picked up for free. It's been running for 3 years now without me having to even touch it. Took forever to get the piece of shit working, once I found the provisioning manager to set up the phones it was a piece of cake. I haven't spent a dime on home phone service other than the minimal amount of electricity it uses. The pi is powered off of a usb port from my htpc that's running all the time anyways and is on ups power.
