Just got a helpdesk job, what am I in for?
No I'm not a Pajeet before anyone asks. Pic unrelated.

Try to emulate the accent regardless to troll people at random.

Follow the call code and suck some dick with a smile. It's not personal. Thank the customers and say sorry like you mean it. And I repeat it's not personal.
try not to get angry
Don't mean to scare you but you are entering a world of pain. I am speaking from the experience.
On the brighter side for me it kickstarted better paths in IT ( like linux admin ) maybe it will for you. Just try not to kill yourself.

enjoy talking to brainless morons all day
but beware
some will try to get you to do their work for them
don't fall for it

This is the hardest part of IT
>>62439615
trust me, I used to work in retail, I get this part.
>>62439686
Yeah I'm hoping to get some certifications after this to segue into bigger and better paths. That's the way to do it right? Or am I being a chump right now?

I wouldn't expect to get certs working on the phone. What I had in mind was, Linux admins, for example, don't appear from thin air. If it's a corporation you are working for then ( using the linux example ) from time to time they may need "linux assistants" or whatever they call it which boils down to extending filesystems and doing different shitty admin jobs before you get "junior" position. That's your window of opportunity because corporation knows that if you work on the phone too long you will probably quit or prank co-workers with a glock and since you are already "in the system" it's better for them to give you a better position then hire someone from outside and lose money by training HIM in how things works around here.
If they don't have department you are interested in then do some training in a free time and apply to a different corporation. That's what I did and it worked. Best of luck.

I'm going for an interview for a help desk job . What should I expect?

>what am I in for?
If this is in a call centre:
>Old people who won't tell you what the problem is
>Idiots who haven't realised their neighborhood is having a blackout
>Degenerates trying to download horrible porn who are too stupid not to be walked through how to do it
>Busybodies who look down on any level of technical knowledge as "nerd shit" and will scream at the drop of a hat
>Co-workers who are cunts
>Team leaders who try and act like your boss outside the workplace
>Drunken Christmas parties resulting in at least one sex scandal between a boss and a jobber
>Questioning your own self-worth
>Alcoholism
>Depression
>Being diagnosed with severe anxiety

installing adobe reader a lot
>>62443531
you forgot to add
>shitty work schedule, can't get any decent sleep
most normies can't into "add printer wizard" and this has been the standard since windows 95
>>62443531
This, but for me, especially:
>Co-workers who are cunts
>Sociopathic supervisors who try to play boss(Files under co-workers who are cunts)
I came from a ditch digging job in industrial waste treatment, so all those other things on your list didn't even faze me. Actually they were amusing compared to trudging in mud and trying to concentrate on building shit after your fingers and toes have frozen off.
It amazes me how many people in IT want to make a simple and cozy job into hard work with their mental issues.
