So? Bluetooth headphones no longer have batteries? They no longer use Bluetooth? Nothing have changed, it became worse if anything due to heavier interference.

You gotta charge your headphones for 40 hours of listening time. I use my headphones for like, 2 hours a day? So every 20 days or so I need to charge them? I live in Manhattan and I have never had an interference problem.

I've owned a budget Android phone for the past 8-9 months, and I've learned within that time that having two gigs is no where near enough. Even under good circumstances my phones ram would set at 60%, and then quickly climb under load from different apps.

I hope this isn't true for iPhones or at the very least iOS will be optimized enough to keep it in check.
>>
>>62374733
These videos are a bit deceiving. The difference is that the Android phone has animation time cut down to as low as it can, while iOS just uses its normal animation style (never used an iPhone so not sure if you can change it).

While you cut down on the animation, that's about it. This doesn't accurately compare the hardware in either phone.
>>
>>62374853
Really depends on how you use your phone. I don't do much aside from texting, calling, maps and some light chatting and browsing so 2 gigs is more than enough for me. Though i usually only have 2 or so apps open at a time.
>>
>>62374892
The iPhone hides it's slowness behind those nice animations you see. If there was an option to disable them on iOS you'd just get lag.
>>
>>62374760
Its not. You calling out fake doesn't make it fake, brainlet
>>
>>62374692
androidcucks will never recover from this
>>
>>62374917
That's actually a good thought, I haven't considered them using it to cover up the problems switching apps.

I know Apple makes really good processors for their phones, but at what point does RAM become a bottleneck? Since iOS doesn't have a task manager, I guess we won't know unless someone has one in the jailbreak community.
>>
It's not like any of those phones can match a nintendo switch in terms of power anyway.
>>
>>62374892
iOS is faster just accept it

Look at any test on youtube and not some webm first posted by a shill with no info whats going on
>>
>>62374965
You don't need a task manager to see RAM usage, I remember there being a system info app in the store back when I had a 3GS and it showed everything from memory usage to netstat.
>>
>>62375020
This is correct BUT only short term. The reason why iPhones lose in those app opening tests is because after a few minutes the SoC starts to overheat and thermal throttles to protect the battery from exploding.

iPhones have failed to sustain their amazing performance for more than a few minutes time and time again.
>>

Ahahaha, my Nexus 5 from 2013 has this much. Works better with Lineage OS than any iShit does with iOS. I speak from experience on that. But this is supposed to be a premium device?

>>glass back panel
This didn't go well the last time they tried it with the antenna issues and everyone breaking them. Apple never learns. I didn't like Jobs but at least he would've had the balls to tell people no. Cook is a limp dicked yes man. If they're going with this design then they might as well make it look more like the iPhone 4 than some Chinkfone ripoff. I swear to God their design team is comprised primarily of literal retards.

>>62367942
No phone needs 8GB of RAM if it doesn't have Google apps shitware installed but 2GB is pathetic. I'd say that 3-4GB is pretty much futureproof under Lineage OS. I mean it's a phone. The flash storage is already super fast and this isn't 1999 so it's not like you're going to set up RAM disks on the thing (don't let me give you retards any ideas).
>>
>>62375894
But seriously though RAM is gonna get cheaper and you'll be able to cram 128GB of it on a phone in a decade or so. Why wouldn't you then male the OS and apps load directly on the RAM on boot?

What disadvantage would that have?
>>
>>62367942
|>
|3
>>
>>62375952
I doubt we will have 128gb of ram anytime soon but android has been doing this for awhile already caching apps in unused ram and clearing them when that ram is needed. and with 8gb ram phones pretty much all your apps you would use would fit inside
>>

>>
>>62375985

>>
>>62375977
Well epyc servers can use up to 2TB of RAM now. A decade ago we could barely fit 8GB and phones didn't even have RAM.

Anyway my dream is very high IOPS 1GB/s internal storage + 128GB RAM disk for phones. Stupid but possible imho.

Why can't developers just optimize their shit? Is it really that hard? I've made some fairly complex command line applications for work that are very resource efficient that use a few KB of RAM. I even helped to write a custom OS for embedded systems that takes less than 2MB of RAM with all the bells and whistles. Why is it so hard for people to make programs that don't eat GB of RAM just to display simple stuff? Developers of all platforms and most apps are guilty of this shit.

Their test environment consists of a newly-installed OS, their app, and any dependencies it needs. This fails to account for real-life usage scenarios where multiple apps are installed and running simultaneously.

Density is still a huge issue sure you can fit 2TB in a single server but you have to think the amount of DIMMs needed and the amount of actual memory chips on each DIMM. Phones are often limited to only 1 or 2 actual memory chips if there not in the SoC themselves.
Also Apple already has NVME storage on there phones so they can do 1GB/s+ if the NAND chips allow it.

So you mean to tell me that people don't keep around a dedicated machine just to test their programs on? Because at work I have an Intel Mac Mini (2011 I think) that we use for testing along with a bunch of VMs on the local server that never get reinstalled. The Mac runs OS X Sierra, Windows 7, Fedora 25, and OpenBSD which are the platforms that we write and maintain internal company apps for. We always test on a real machine because VMs don't always show a lot of bugs and quirks that you get on real systems.

Botnet aside it would've been a lot better had it been written as native code instead of being a fucking web app running in a dedicated instance of Chromium.

Thing is iPhones ARE faster but only for a short time without actually using apps for more than a day. After a few minutes heat and app cache cause lagginess that lats until both are dealt with.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mcTAXsFHu5I

In this speed test app cache is generated like in real life use and constant use makes the phone generate heat like in real life use.
>>
>>62376248
I'm sure there is a good bit of memory compression going on too (as there is in macs) and there is always something to dump that is not being used, don't know to what extent apple can shrink system files loaded in ram. NVME in iphones also helps with reloading apps.

>>62376287
I can understand why it was made in that way because it is easy to work with and you can push out changes pretty much instantly, but when I started using it it actually felt cheap knowing it was all HTML and java and holy hell yes it would be 10x faster in native code

Honestly I just want an actual innovation keynote, no gimmick shit like last year:

>Woo we made the home button a taptic sensor and took the actual button out cause everyone was asking for that apparently
>Whoa we took the headphone jack out BRAVE
>Heey we put a double camera ONLY on the plus model that lets you take blurry BG pictures, amazing right?
>wow 2 more colors!
>Oh and all the standard speed upgrades yadda yadda yadda

Seriously I miss when Steve got on stage and actually sold me that Apple shit was the best and that I was missing out... I am optimistic though cause the S models usually improve on the prev models unless it's actually gonna be the iPhone 8 or X or whatever. Here's hoping lads.

I just want a model worth more than me just getting a 6S Plus from my 6 Plus.

Get used to shit like this from any manufacturer, in terms of releasing actual useful features it seems we have stagnated now its just a fight if how curved of a screen we can make and spec numbers.
Hell where removing shit, headphone ports, fingerprint readers, other useful ports (no mag safe on 2016 macs along with everything else). Mac Pros now are glued together unexpandable iMacs

Stop. Don't remind me of how Apple got rid of the one true innovation in laptop design. The glowing logo and startup chime were iconic but still a gimmick in the end, but magsafe was actually good.

There are ways to hide it, the app is inside a VM after all. Also wasn't apple responsible for letting apps that compromised user's security that was a reason why the latest 2017 icloud leak happened?

Git out.

Also I used an iPhone 7 recently.
I was like first: "hmm, the animations are very smooth." Then I realized I just disabled mine, and if I would have so many animations, it would increase the time I had to spend on my phone by 10% each time.

I mean they take so long, and you are forced to watch them. It's shit.

Apple's forcedly held back specs are still inexcusable. I remember they did this back in the 4, 4S era. And I thought with the 6 they will finally up their game. But fuck no, let's just go as low as possible, so as the next iOS versions will eat more ram, customer devices will slow down.

true story, i once was on the hiring panel and had to interview unlimited amount of normalfags back to back. And honestly it was really fucking hard, because most of them were pretty good with the exact same qualifications(CCNA/similar certs, 3-5 years of experience, CS background, good with python/C/C++/Java,good with sysadmin shit), so I couldn't really choose from them. By the 20th guy I started asking them another question, android, iPhone or other. I eliminated iphone fags by default.
