For those in Florida, let's discuss battery saving on your devices.
What should be done to minimize battery drain when the power inevitably goes out for the large majority of south florida?
>inb4 airplane mode/low brightness/turn nfc and bluetooth off on mobile devices and close unused applications on laptops
Let's talk serious tweaks here, not that mainstream news article shit, ie. what operating system would provide the best, most maximized and optimized battery life? Even small tweaks will help.
pic was found on google, don't know anything about it.
I always lock my x220 and t440p at 800MHz core speed when in power saving mode on battery. Makes a huge difference and only trade off is slightly longer load times and some hiccups.
Just buy some power bank/UPS and call it a day.
Whats a good UPC

Any guides on underclocking like that to maximize battery life? Like any detailed websites or anything? This is a pretty rare circumstance so I doubt it but might as well ask.

UPS, even high end commercial ones, can't keep a system up reliably for a very long time - specially if the system has a load on it. A few hours is probably the best you're looking at. My commercial UPS which is about 350 USD in price gives me 45 minutes off the grid. For long time off grid operation you need a diesel or gasoline generator.

Lenovo Power Settings in Windows does that, however I haven't found an equivalent for GNU/Linux

Pstates for linux (or cstates) for actual processor stuff and then powertop to trim power from other devices (hdd's, USB, etc).
On my 9550 if I use intel graphics only I can get 8 hours of battery life pretty reliably on 20% brightness.

I have 3 batteries for my laptop, and two power banks for my phone, and can use my car to charge if needed.

Don't you need some kind of permit for that?
