Could you recommend me a distro that is neither easy nor hard to use? I want to learn more about linux but I'm not keen on manually mounting my external hard drive.
Unironically Arch. Also use fglt faggot

Arch or Debian, you can have a learning system up and running in less than an hour

I'm already using Arch but like I said, I really don't want to spend hours trying to make wine recognize my cd/rom driver.

Sure, I'd love to "cast spells" 24/7.

Debian, but remember to dowload the iso containing nonfree firmware unless you want the installer to autistically complain about 90% of computers.

Can you use udevil to just automount? Or does the CD drive have to be used through wine specifically?
>>62289317
automount didn't work, maybe it's something about file manager. In thunar I can't see it but in Nautilus I can.

You forgot to install gvfs (Gnome Virtual Filesystem), probably why your trashcan is fucked.
FUSE and other non-root mounts won't work without GVFS on most GTK environments.

Install udiskie and autostart it as daemon on boot/login.
Works out of the box and plays nicely with most file managers (for eject options for example).

Nope, I have GVFS.
