OS is just a tool. I understand sometimes it's easier to use Windows and sometimes it's easier to use some developed Linux distro. I'm not trying to show my epeen because money talks.

Reminder that /g/ is a technology board, and not exclusively the purvey of fat kids using computers and Unix-like operating systems as props for their pretend hacker roleplaying sessions. Nor is /g/ solely a domain for listless failures and wannabes who, due to an overabundance of free time to consider how horribly they've failed at life, have turned to self-aggrandizement and ego-boosting as a coping mechanism. The paranoia and victim complex that accompanies this delusion is also not the intended focus of /g/, as it isn't actually technology related, nor does the government actually care about you or your anime viewing habits.

FreeBSD is for corporate cock sleeves and obtuse cucks.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_BSD_operating_systems#FreeBSD
>they sometimes accept non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) and include a limited number of closed-source HAL modules for specific device drivers in their source tree, to support the hardware of companies who do not provide purely open source drivers

>>62247339
FreeBSD is about technology and not about politics. Of course they include shit that make other shit work. The entire point is shipping a product that works and works well.

This thread has nothing to do with systemd.
It is purely a coincidence that the best distros are systemd free.
>>
>>62247569
That would make sense, then.
Except, he should still include FreeBSD and NetBSD on that. Those don't need systemd. At least I'm p sure I never had systemd on my FreeBSD installs when I had that for testing.

I use Fedora 26

I use Arch and run a Windows VM with GPU pass-through and USB pass-through. It has no noticeable or measurable input lag vs running Windows baremetal. It also has the advantage of running Windows 7+ for newer stuff and windows XP embedded for japanese arcade games.

I prefer installing funtoo and then using gentoo sources for everything else. Funtoo's version of the portage stack is much better but its tools are all shitty and broken. That said, the funtoo community is infinitely better than the gentoo one. It's really night and day.
>>
>>62254141
It's unironically a security flaw as it leaves an open session behind. Moreover many userspace services require the availability of a real DM.
>>
>>62256169
It's still the same session.

>>62247531

>>>/a/

The terminal session is still logged in. Anyone with physical access can C-z and take over completely. With lightdm, the service is preventing such takeover, even though obviously there are other methods to bypass (but they're more invasive, and importantly, leave traces behind).

>4chan is an English-language imageboard website. Users generally post anonymously, with the most recent posts appearing above the rest. 4chan is split into various boards with their own specific content and guidelines. Registration is not required, nor is it possible (except for staff).
>Launched on October 1, 2003, its boards were originally used for posting pictures and discussing manga and anime, as the site was modeled on Japanese imageboards, particularly 2chan. The site quickly became popular and expanded, though much of 4chan's content still features otaku, anime, and other Japanese cultural influences.
