Did the recent update to google Chrome on android disable keyboard shortcuts such as ctrl + c, ctrl + v? Play store says it updated 9hrs ago.

I realize Brave browser on android is Google Chrome with built in adblock and without google spying, but this is the nail in the coffin for me if true.

What font pack do I install so I never see those stupid rectangles again?

I could install any fontpack for a specific language off the Arch wiki, but I simply don't want to have to do that for every language I happen to encounter.

Has anyone experienced an issue in Windows 10 where wifi loses the default gateway and drops connection? My wifi will cut out and sometimes running the troubleshooter will reset the adapter and fix it. Other times it just kills my wifi driver and even reinstalling it doesn't fix the issue and I have to do a system restore. I did a Reset this PC option and the issue stipp persists. I've tried everything, assigning a static IP, updating driver's. Nothing works. Is it an issue with my router? None of my other devices have issues. Just my desktop.

Anyone know any good guides on how to take say a 1080p h264 video and either transcoding it to h265 or staying with h264, but reducing it to 720p, but with minimal loss when it comes to high motion scenes? So how to decide on what an "ideal" new bitrate or quality setting is, to get best bang for buck on reducing the quality.

Need to make some more room and I rather not resort to flat out deleting, or resorting to using compressed zips that slow file access a lot..

>>62205652
Staxrip is a little more complicated. Supposedly it takes better advantage of nVidia cards when doing rips.

What you're suggesting isn't necessarily a great idea though. Converting from one lossy codec to another is going to inherently lead to quality loss, and it sounds like you don't have access to the original lossless media. It also takes a comparatively long time and a lot of processing power to encode x265. And the bigger the overall filesize, the less difference between the two codecs. If I were you I'd just keep your current collection as is, and start finding 10bit x265 rips wherever possible in the future.

GNU/linux is a free and open source operating system. Linux is a the kernel, something all operating systems have. It allows software and user level applications to communicate with the hardware, aswell as manage resources. The GNU part is a collection of arbitrary applications designed to run ontop of a *nix(linux) kernel.
>>
>>62206247
it's called linux because the kernel is the only unifying them between them, next to systemd

Was recording a long (~2.5 hr) .flv video with OBS Studio 64 bit and my power died. I've tried using OBS's Remux function as well as ffmpeg transcoding to mp4, Avidemux transcoding, VLC transcoding, Webmforretards transcoding as well as just playing in MPC. All of these fail to open the file or don't detect any media. OBS does nothing when I select the file and click 'remux', the window just stays there as though I haven't clicked anything. I'm trying to upload to Youtube now, but it seems that they 'dont recognize the file format' despite other non corrupted .flvs working fine.

The file is full of data, but I just can't access it. Is there some way I can manually 'close' it? If you'll excuse my use of psuedocode, I figure OBS didn't put a 'stop' at the end of the video or something. I'd really like to get this thing working.

built new computer. SSD is my new C: and my old drives are all connected too. have Win10 on new system, but my old C: (which is now D:) still has Windows 7 and all the old Windows files on it. should i delete it or is it fine? im concerned only because the Win7 had screwed up USB drivers (that aren't an issue anymore thankfully).
>>
>>62205910
Thing is nobody really has the "lossless" master version unless they recorded th video themself ... everyone's got a "lossy" 4k or 1080p from a bluray at best...

I do have a bunch of lower quality porn from the 90-00's when 480p is as good as it got; so converting that to x265 would be worth it?

My main concern is picking settings such that I can batch process without much worry, cant try several different profiles, crf values because that would take ages.
>>
>>62206846
Semantics. You'll be ending up with a rip of a rip, and that shit gets bad real fast. All that xvid shit you have is definitely much bigger than it needs to be, but shrinking what you have is going to be disproportionately bad for quality. Best you can do is try it and see if it looks good enough to you to delete the "originals".

>>
>>62207037
I was referring to the codec, not the container. Just trial and error that shit. I imagine there are at least a few devices out there that still accept mp4 but not mvk, like the PS3. The main advantage to mvk is the ability to embed subtitles. If you need to convert one to the other in the future, it's a trivial change via remuxing that has no impact on quality.

Looking to pay less for my internet currently paying $55 a month cheapest plan.

I have cableone 50Mbps 300gb limit mostly use it for streaming and got a second warning about going over my data cap and a 3rd warning will bump me to a higher 400gb for $69

spoke to a CenturyLink rep and he said that a DSL 7Mbps direct line (best i can get in my area NE) would be better than the cable's shared line. no data limits $20

"no data limits" is relative. And occasionally they get it wrong. In some areas they do have hard caps, in others they don't. 7mpbs is a lot slower, but with a 300gb cap you aren't really taking advantage of the higher speeds. Expect around 3gb per hour.

Hey, I have this CRT monitor (had it since 2001) and I've started using it as a second display for my laptop.

The picture quality is good, but there's this constant buzzing sound. I remember it buzzing while turned on (like any other CRT), but I don't remember it also buzzing while turned off (but still plugged into the power grid).

Turned on = sounds like a saw wave
Turned off = quiet, chirpy buzzing (sounds like robot crickets)

Hey guys, I have a dual monitor setup using Windows 10 and watch videos on my secondary monitor. However, every time I exit fullscreen mode on mpv or mpc-hc, the part of the image from the video remains stuck to the desktop until I click on the desktop and it goes away. This doesn't happen with my primary monitor though, so I'm guessing it might be a problem with Windows and dual monitors. Does anyone know what is causing this?

If not, if anybody knows what this problem is called, I would appreciate it so I can search myself. Been trying to search for solutions to this problem, but can't bring anything up in search engines that match my problem. Using vague search terms isn't helping me.

I'm building a pc on an nzxt noctis 450 with a 240mm AIO that i plan on mounting on top with fans pulling air from inside the case for easier cleaning. There is space between the top of the case and the panel they have placed on top to fit the fans.

I did some googling and some reviewers put everything inside the case and others (like hardware canucks) put the fans on top of the case and the radiator inside. Should I go for fans on top of the case and radiator inside the case or just put everything inside the case?

I know both ways will work , just want opinions mostly on aesthetics , since i don't build this for myself.

So, if it's a similar sound (unplugging sound and the turned-off-buzz), it's probably failing capacitors?

That would make sense, since this monitor was originally bought as a part of a full build, and the computer motherboard (recently) stopped working due to dead capacitors.

I got my laptop repaired because the middle mouse click on the touchpad was not working, and now after the repaid, my whole touchpad is having an issue where it moves spastically when I'm trying to control it, and it even does random things like scroll or middle click as if I had put 2 fingers on the pad when I only put 1.

This happens randomly and sometimes it works perfectly fine. Does anybody know what the problem could be? Could it be just from the repair man not attaching a part correctly, or is it from a totally defective replacement part?

The people who say "Don't do it" are the ones who were stupid enough to fuck themselves over. Whether you want it or not you'll need a credit score to get things you won't be able to afford without a loan, unless you got that old money, like a car or house.

Don't do PayPal Credit because they don't report to the bureaus. Meaning it won't affect your score in any way. So it's bad if you want to build credit, and they probably won't let you anyways. Go for Capital One's secured credit card where you have to pay them some money to even get it, but you don't really have a choice. Now there's ways to manipulate in to getting the score you want, but since you're just starting out you just wanna do the "buy something with it and immediately" pay it off method.

Go to /biz/ for more info.

>>
>>62212397
It's the right tool for the job. If all you're doing is torrenting then a proxy type solution is the least efficient. They're slower than your normal connection by nature, plus any upload traffic is competing with your other shit. Seedboxes are fast as fuck, put you in the best position relative to other peers, and ftp is hardly ever throttled by ISPs. For bonus points find one that acts as a plex server.
>>
>>62212402
If you're doing something that requires low latency, then yes. It's improved a lot though, provided your signal is strong and there's not a lot of interference. If you aren't heavy into gaming you're usually fine.

Existence through time.
When the library of Alexandria was burned down to the ground many original works were lost forever, but even then people copied/modified existent works in large numbers so thats how we know about them and those works continue to live to this day.

So how a species could secure its life through time?
It makes a copy of its genetic code that embedded in the next generation.
Iteration brings improvement, and improvement insures existence forever.
Bad code is discarded and lost through time because it does not secure survival of the species (gay people, sick or degenerates who "decide" not to have kids).

>Bad code is discarded and lost through time because it does not secure survival of the species (gay people, sick or degenerates who "decide" not to have kids).

in theory yes, in practise these days we have viruses and malware who keep making copies of themselves millions times faster than legitimate software, corrupting legit software and occupying more and more space on the disk, most antiviruses have been subverted or are ineffective, the only solution is to do a full reformat

If non-reproductive individuals are a natural response to overpopulation how is that a bad thing?
>>
>>62213892
It is not.
They are non issue,a mistake that will not reproduce or continue its code through legacy.

So my work OS/win7 started behaving weirdly.

AV disabled itself, something killed its service and I had to reset it manually.
I did msconfig for suspicious stuff, but besides dropbox readding itself I don't see anything new or suspicious.
Enabling avast slowed OS to a crawl till I did safe boot.
Now works OK, but still I feel it's still slower than it should. Mind, that's work/school installation, it's office+browser with common sense 2017 and av only. Deffragged + cleaned from junk files every once in a while.

Should I suspect chink cameras and other weird lan devices from China being in the lan I use?

Is there anything suspicious?

If something vanishes from time it means it was not worth the existence.
Not all books were saved from that library, only those that people saw as being worth the copy and thus the knowledge of them today.

my samsung android galaxy s5 died at around 10-15% battery left, does anyone know what might be the cause of this?
the reason i'm concerned is coz it's a new battery that just arrived after ordering online and the old battery kept draining really quickly. it wasn't particularly hot either so idk what to blame it on. any ideas, /g/?

It was then they started to push Windows 10 upgrade shit.
but note there are few updates you will have to find manually since there were breaches like WannaCry.

ive had a usb xbox 360 controller since the initial 360 launch and used it for my pc after it died.

looking for a new controller because my thumbsticks dont center anymore and give weird ghost inputs. tried upping the deadzone but it fucks too much with the feel of the sticks.

ive tried the standard xbox one controller but its small enough that when gripping it, after a while my hands numb because blood flow i guess.

is the elite controller larger and worth it if i can buy it for say 90$ refurbished?

are there cheaper alternatives with comparable quality and functionality?

gonna be playing destiny 2 with it since you get a free aimbot if you use a controller.

also, running windows 7, dunno if i can use it even.

tldr; is the xbox elite controller worth it for a faggot running windows 7?

It's a fucking terrible movie.
Unless you're 10, fuck you if you enjoy that garbage.

I offered them other stuff like John Wick and Madmen, and if you'd bothering reading you'd known that, but they chose lego movie of their own volition. They chose it when I left it room and they continued watching, when I wasn't in it.

I don't know about you but when something is garbage you place it much lower than something that is decent.
So you're saying either;
1. Lego movie is garbage and John Wick not much better than garbage.
2. Lego move is average and John Wick is much better than average.

If you say the first you have bad taste or just a contrarian that watches homestuck or some shit and the later and you're a child.

I have a whole bunch of mkv videos that have a russian audio track as the defualt audio track. They also have an english audio track. What I want to do is remove the russian audio track without entirely remuxing the entire video files, since I don't have the space to do that. I tried mkvCleaver & MKVToolNix, but they require you to rewrite the file entirely. Any ideas?

Technically the seller would be able to contest ownership over your Steam account with the key they sold you, though I'd guess they also need an account name. It's also pretty likely that those keys are obtained illegally. I don't trust them personally.
