I have an almost 9 years old pc, with no chance of buying anything new.
Should i consider suicide?
>>
>>62183077
Also, have to add that 9 years ago, it was at best medium-low end
>>
post specs
>>
>>62183077
Install Linux and make better use of your hardware.

I put zfs root from antergos on my shitty 60GB HDD laptops and run with compression to save more shit on them.
>>
Install Gentoo, you won't gane on it anymore which is the only useful tool for Windows.
>>

>>
>>62183325
Should be able to find a used PC that is better than that for very little money.
>>
>>62183077
If you can't use your 9yo pc you should consider suicide yeah, gaming aside, there's no reason to upgrade
>>
>>62183325
that's actually impressive.
Not in the traditional sense, but you know what I mean.
What OS are you running on it?
>>
>>62183077
wouldnt a phone run faster? why not just connect it to your monitor
>>
>>62183077
Start with a linux distribution, like Ubuntu or Mint, with the XFCE desktop. Your computer will run faster.
>>
>>62183077
Hmm, an i7-920 is 9 years old and it's a very decent processor, even by today's standards. The age of a PC alone doesn't tell too much.
>>
You can't spend fifty bucks on an q6600?
>>
>>62183457
You already know it's pirated XP.
>>
>>62183077
Dumb, broke frogposter. Just grab a prebuilt with a Q6600 or i3-2130 off fleabay. Upgrade it with an SSD when you have the funds.
>>
>>62183271
I hope you have ECC memory. Also a UPS otherwise the first sudden power loss you can say bye bye to your root pool
>>
>>62183077
There is a shop in my town that sells alright rig for like $35 since it is for the poor people in the town. Every machine comes with lubuntu since they are also free software advocates. I got a Sandy i3 w/ 600 gb HDD and 4 gb ram got $15 since the sound was broken but a $7 USB soundcard fixed that.

Maybe something like that is nearby for you?
>>
>>62183077
have you also been poor since 9 consecutive years? I'm sorry for that
>>
>>62183077
My main PC, if you want to call it that, from which I am posting now, is a $200 Acer Aspire One laptop from Best Buy that I bought in 2012. This little thing has served me well, but there is always the constant fear that any day now it's little hard-drive will stop spinning forever. Many of the keys have already died, so I've using an old USB keyboard... It's just a matter of time, OP.

Just a matter

of time...
>>
>>62183077
Dude
Install win7 and remove telemetry
Add 2 gigs more ram with 20$ neetbux

BAM!

You'll feel better. Trust me im on a 11 year old machine

ZFS is hardy as fuck.
Break it during rebuild: Top down saves what it can save.
Checksum error in snapshot: Tells you where and when if you want to roll back.
Redundant disks shot to hell with holes: Keeping working, initramfs died so I'll sleep the machine until I can rebuild them on a cheap slim form factor USB.

Even with sync=disabled you only lose 5 seconds of transactions.
And it's still better than every single filesystem even without the use of ECC.

Incremental snapshots piped to my backup HDD from all my shittops make it easy to keep if I need to blast one and put something else overtop for a moment.

Suicide over an old PC?
Be glad that it survived this long.

I doubt mine will.

Its alright man, you can read, listen and watch(without hd of course) everything on it and for gaymens you can emulate perfectly till ps1 which are mostly better than the recent one. Of course I have a x5460 cpu which is still shit compared to recent standards but it doesn't power up even though the mobo light is up and it had other problems anyway so I'm stuck with this laptop. You can read and improve yourself so much when you're limited like that, the only bad thing about slow pc's is that you can have problems watch youtube videos properly but its mostly native hd videos.

5 seconds of transactions is *a lot*.
Just imagine lose even 2 seconds of transactions when you're doing a full system upgrade or writing data in DBs: that's complete corruption and you're forced to restore from backup.
While it's always good to have a backup it's even better not having to resort to a full restore/reinstallation

Maybe you should just start saving. I barely have an income and that never stopped me. Hell, even a raspberry pi would make a decent computer in a pinch.

do you work at least? if not, then it is time to. if you do, time to start saving money or finding a new job.

if you are underage you shouldn't even be here... but, said that, you don't need a newer pc (probably).

Run vim with most popular plugins.
Compile your stuff with GCC.
Play xcom, thief and doom.

There is literally 0 reasons to upgrade.
