I'm wondering the same. Super thin fonts (that probably looks decent on their 500% scaling Apple retina 13" macbooks.
And let's not talk about black hyperlinks, non-existant separation of content, dynamic responsive design (when I try deactivate the "play next video" button and it goes ahead and loads some more shit, so that I end up blicking on a video instead, because that's where the slider button used to be.
But I'm happy with it. Normies (people without adblockers), will hate the design and hopefully start using YouTube less, so that Google loses money
