There's a difference between uBlock an uBlock Origin. You want uBlock Origin.
I don't think extensions can compromise your system. You can delete your Firefox profile and start over if you want.
>>62146709
How is ublock origin outdated?
>>62146709
Waterfox + uBlock Origin.
Waterfox will copy all settings and addons from your FF so install WF first and then delete FF.
search for ublock origin on mozilla addons, scroll down on the ublock origin page and download the latest development version, ready for fx57
Am I the only fucking person who still uses Adblock Plus and NoScript?
>>62147056
Yes no one else is that dumb
>>62146920
Someone fugged up something and the newest version of Ublock Origin has some problems with the newest version of Firefox. Doesn't happen to everyone, though.
>>62146910
i had ublock origin
>>62146933
i've found it on addons website, can't find it through mozilla
installed it again, it still shows "outdated" but it's working now
>>62147085
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-GB/firefox/addon/ublock-origin/versions/beta
alternatively wait for adnauseam webext to get uploaded to amo
>for the past month ublock has been increasingly letting ads through
>go to xvideos to watch porn
>site opens a new window
>x it out and refresh page
>ublock origin is uninstalled
>reinstall it
>ublock origin gets uninstalled again
The fucking ads are now literally hacking firefox and uninstalling adblockers. I got so spooked, I reinstalled windows because I was sure it gave me a virus as well(even though malwarebytes and windows scans turned up negative)
>>62146709
No problems on Vivaldi here
>>62146895
We need options to filter that shit from searches if we choose. How about it /g/?
>>62147170
ublock isn't the problem, you're just too dumb to operate a computer.
>>62147071
I use it.
NoScript is sufficient to block ad.
>still using Firefox in 2017
You DO know that their mission no longer has anything to do with making a competent browser right?

Of course they can. Addons in Firefox can access all the same shit Firefox can, which means they can read, modify and move files around, download files and/or execute scripts.
XUL addons are a security nightmare, which is why they're being binned.
Websites finally figured out how to reverse proxy. Adblocking is dun4
Might as well add this from another thread. Firefox (dunno if Chrome is doing anything similar) began flagging certain addons as "Legacy" status, which appears to do the same as disabling them. It just happned to uBlock Origin and HTTPS Everywhere for me.

Jesus fuck gorhill. The new ublock fucked up image loading and made firefox really laggy.
Downgraded to the non-hybrid version and it's fine and snappy again.
Fucking firefox, stop copying chrome for fuck's sake

Adnaseum is garbage. It runs slower, and it allows ad companies to track you.
>>62150130
By building a fake ad profile
>>62150236
>user clicks on all the ads from rule34 search of mlp
>ad companies now know you look at mlp smut
How is it fake?

>>62150520
Except the ads don't load because I use fucking uBlock Origin, not kikeNauseum
