Are you fucking autistic? You literally did nothing, so why you proud of it?
Why you doesn't do anything useful even for your community? If you can't don't call yourself technological enthusiast and think that you better than normie at least that way, cause you don't

Being an enthusiast just means you have an active interest in something. Don't equate it with expertise.

You seem mad OP.
Are you upset because you can't do even that?
Wouldn't be surprised, this place is completely filled with trash who can't even compile Clover for themselves.

@62127827
You don't even understand what consumerism means, but this is not really surprising.
Totally not saging in this shit bait thread.

but I enjoy the configuring, it makes me think in ways to solve problems. it literally is the perfect programming exercise
>>
>>62128262
It's cause it makes you feel like a hacker, but you don't. You just wasting your time on wrong things
>>

whats wrong about configuring? how was it wasting time and how wasnt it hacking

prove me that it isnt hacking or time wasting

Not really. It makes you better at googling at best.
>>

Buddy, I can do it.
I just want to remind to manchilds that compiling stuff reading step by step guide doesn't make you special or unique. Stop wasting your time and work on a real project.

Is it useful for your community? Society? It's make you better specialist? It will help you make more money? Is it making people lifes happier?
I don't think so.
I think it just regular action for non autistic people. Config your shit once, and work on a project. Work for money, for happiness, for great idea, etc.
>>
@62128372
How sad your life must be to get so invested into telling some autists on taiwanese knitting website that their past time is a waste of time. Kill yourself, it will ease your pain.

documents for the people who are stuck on their wishes but lack the skill to create the code themself

>ricing help make more money?
No
I create a config written in a specific language, improving my skill with that language (or thinking on problems in general), helping me with my job. so yes, it helps making me money

>ricing
also, not every config is about looks, fucktard ;^)
not every config is written like "background = blue" or "borders = 2px"

you are obviously some retard that thinks in (small) boxes

example

my scheme skill has been massively improved since I started working configuring code to make it work to my wishes. I tackled problems I couldnt figure out at first and made my think in a different way. someone else had the same problem I helped him helping the community

thinking in solving problems helps with jobs thus making me money

understand?

>>
>>62125580
>You literally did nothing, so why you proud of it?

because it starts like that, installing arch on a thinkpad and shit

couple of years later you hack into DNC servers and cause the biggest political shitstorm USA has ever seen

now that's something to be proud of
>>
>>62125580
Normies wouldn't be able to do any of that. I program my own scripts too. Fuck you OP
>>
>>62128935
So what? There are consumers on every platform. There are also people contributing to open source projects from their macbook who don't care about ricing or using TUI email clients. There are likely people on used thinkpads with arch and a reliable DE who are also working or contributing to open source projects as well. I spent a day setting up ubuntu first day of my new job when I could have been handed a macbook and started working a lot sooner.

Doing something purely for personal enjoyment is unacceptable today, everything you have done must be "useful" or "contributing to the community" in some ways.
Well done OP, really showed them to stop doing things they want to do.

Arch Linux was hard because it was my very first distro and I barely knew anything. Thinkpads are easy mode though. Try gettign anything to run with newest propriety drivers.

Pretty much. these fucks here act like it's a huge fucking deal like that nigger who "made" a computer. Think about it, these faggots revel in the fact that they are merely above the regular normalfag. Like reading step by step how-to's and wikis make them fucking smart, fucking niggers. that is basic shit. just because normalfags never read the guides (because they don't need to because wangblows), does not mean that you are somehow superior because you do follow one. RTFM used to be the mpost basic shit one would do, yet now it is some sort of achievement. maybe, just maybe the reason you faggots don't get the jobs and pajeet does is because he at least does something relate to programming, even if it is frankentien stakoverflow code. you faggots just shitpost all fucking day masturwasting your life away in non-existant achievements like installing gentoo. in real life pajeet manages centOS/Fedora/redhat and you faggots cry how "the jewish company couldn't handle gentoo/arch so they used inferior linux"
>>
>"I ENJOY ricing and configuring my broken system on the reg"
99% of people who say this are lying and 100% of these people are retarded. Productive people don't waste their time on this shit. Ricing, distro hopping and "configuring" shit gets really, really fucking old real fast. It is good to try it but faggots here claim like it is the holy grail.
>>
>>62127701

i just have a feeling that addings an alias with sudo in it is a bad idea for security, since you can invoke sudo without knowing it. But i may be just too paranoid, it doesnt seem like there would be any security threat
>>
>>62137023
Hmm only if you gib password.
But you are right when you do it with basic mv, cp, rm stuff: You just sudo pacman updated your stuff and decide to cp something with your 'sudo cp' alias and you don't get your password question.

It's just that pacman requires root/sudo so if you use it it's not an accidental sudo.

Nice projection. Ricing software is no better or worse than any other hobby.
>>
>>62138297
>It's just that pacman requires root/sudo so if you use it it's not an accidental sudo.

Yeah that was my logic behind it. If the command requires sudo to work properly, there isn't any harm. I could be wrong, though.
