/g/ shilled Meme Moon so fucking hard. I installed it and the default homepage had ads and full of stupid shit that nobody gives a fuck about. The fact that the author of this shitty garbage clone made that as the default homepage shows how bad Meme Moon actually is.

Bra-fucking-vo indeed. Another browser to add into the "Trash Browsers" list.

Odd.
AdNauseam does not autoclick ads unless they ARE tracking ads.
"Clean" advertisements are not auto clicked by default.
Does this mean Moonchild's Palemoon supports tracking ads?

https://github.com/dhowe/AdNauseam/wiki/FAQ
What is the EFF's 'Do Not Track' standard and how it is supported in AdNauseam?

When you first install AdNauseam, you will see "Make exceptions for non-tracking Ads" checked for you by default. This option applies to sites that follow the EFF's Do Not Track standard. With 'Do Not Track (DNT)' enabled, AdNauseam will send the DNT header and then allow requests from sites who have pledged to respect this emerging standard. This means that Ads may be visible on these sites (they will still be collected by AdNauseam), and clicks on these Ads will be disabled.
>>
>>62102957
I thought the ad stuff was opt-in, I didn't know that

>>
>>62103187
Point is Palemoon isn't being clean here.
They are putting out a message that they support tracking ads.
Ideally they should be putting out the message, do whatever the fuck you want to.
>>
>>62102514
So the browser developer is now exercising control over what you do with your browser.

RIP in piss Pale Moon. Never again.

https://www.brave.com/faq/#selling-data

Will Brave sell user data to advertisers?
As earlier answers explain, we do not even have access to identifiable user data. The anonymized aggregated ad campaign related data we do collect is used for accounting and reporting, but this data cannot be mapped back to devices or user identities of any kind..com.

>>62103274
You are not wrong. It can be forked.
It's not as opensource as you might think.

https://www.palemoon.org/redist.shtml
Even though Pale Moon is open source and the source is supplied under the Mozilla Public License, redistribution of the Pale Moon binaries (executable form) is limited by certain conditions under a proprietary license by Moonchild Productions, as permitted under 3.2b of the MPL v2.0. This has been required because of, among other things, the increasing number of rogue/altered copies and people taking advantage of the free availability of the browser to monetize upon, which is against Pale Moon's principles of free software.

Even though Pale Moon is supplied as open source, our branding included in the source tree is protected and you are not granted any rights or licenses to the Pale Moon name, logo, or other identifying official branding marks, names or phrases. To clarify the situation if you build from source to redistribute the resulting executable form, please see points 8, 10 and 12 below.

This license covers redistribution of officially supplied binaries and some policies regarding binaries built from source with official branding, which is allowed in some circumstances.

Its main advantage is an ethical one: it is entirely free software. While the Firefox source code from the Mozilla project is free software, they distribute and recommend non-free software as plug-ins and addons.

Does it block non-free plugins?

>>62103509
Not even Stallman would use that
>>
These fucking clones all die sooner or later as codebase for these projects is so big that only their creators (or some very big and skilled team) can properly maintain them. These furryfags end up not being as updated as the real ones and also mess hp by changing stuff they don't know.

So, use standard Firefox or Chromium, screw these ad-filled clones.
>>
>>62102820
You know, if they value their product so much, why not make a Patreon or something like that for it? No one likes ads at all and honestly, you're more likely to get more people giving you money directly if you self-fund the money by delivering a good product than by hosting ads.

Not defending Memechild's decision, but you're wrong to say it's less open source than Firefox. The only additional restriction over the Mozilla license is you can't repackage it.

Moonchild, who is the developer of the pale moon web browser, got assblasted and proceeded to block it on moralfag grounds. He has his own version of the firefox blocklist that he can tack onto at any time, and the browser will automatically check your extensions against this list and disable anything that is deemed to be malicious. Same applies to Firefox. It has a good use, and Mozilla uses it correctly, but manchild productions here is abusing it out of moralfaggotry.

The marketing industry isn't going to just magically disappear just because you're using some shitty addon that fucks them, all this is going to do is expedite creation of even more obnoxious ad delivery methods that can't be circumvented so easily, all the while denying half a cent of revenue to the websites that are paying the power bill and using their cycles to serve YOU information. You retards won't be happy until either the internet becomes a wasteland dominated by only the big corporations because nobody can afford to host a server independently, or every kind of adblocker is just blocked by the operating system and you're forced to watch ads to start your computer.

Regrettably that would be me. I've always really really liked Pale Moon. I've hung out on the forums, hung out on the Github and always appreciated the people that worked on it in general. It served my needs very very well, and I liked sharing it around to my friends and helping that community to grow. Pale Moon has never let me down, and the developer has always been very mature and handled the project in a good way. But he's fucking up majorly now, and I don't think I'll use it and share it anymore.

You shouldn't control what people do in their browser. That's contradictory to the philosophy of the software and the Internet in general: "Do what you want, have it your way" (Of course, you can still be removed by moderators, but this is an overstep)

>I think in the original post he made a clear distinction that this extension doesn't really block ads.

>Most adblockers (including uBlock, AdBlock-Plus, etc.) work via a combination of blocking and hiding strategies. Requests for some ads are blocked outright, while other Ads (text-only Ads, like those found on Google Search, are one common example) are first downloaded, then made invisible on the page. This is also how AdNauseam works. We simply treat image-Ads above a minimum size as if they were text-only Ads. And just like other adblockers, AdNauseam does block malware and non-visual trackers.

this litterally kills small fags first before it will kill google, just use a normal blocker, instead of

>give free money to sites and make google money
>fraud website move ads to a real website and fuck the fraud website while google makes money.

fuck furfags for not giving you choices

Just sent a long and sincere email to Moonchild explaining exactly why nobody can really trust PM after this event.

I'm terribly sorry to all the anons I've convinced to go to PM. I've been shilling it for a long time.

What's the latest reliable version of Firefox?

>so what, you have to install an extension in palemoon to show your "loud" tabs whereas its a standard FX functionality
firefox extensions sometimes give me problem with icons disappearing and forcing me to put them on the status bar again, it's different from a simple loud indicator
>REEEEE
i want it on the left, why it isn't possibile?

>pocket
i don't want to disable them, i want them removed from the browser i use

it's not a problem the position of the tabs, it's the hamburger menu wich i don't like, i prefer the old one. CTR doesn't remove the hamburger menu.
>full theme support
another feature lost, great
>unsigned extensions
i'm aware that i can use nightly for that or waterfox, but i don't want to use an alpha browser and i don't like waterfox for the same reasons i don't like firefox
>dumbed down settings
no, it's not bullshit, certain thing were removed, like this one
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/settingsanity/
plus palemoon has palemoon commander

oh i forgot the webextensions
for the moment they are still incomplete and some addons cannot be ported, like tree style tab.
>>
>>62106684
The script opens windows rather than tabs for me. And I can't find the "COST" info mentioned in step 5... Kind of a let down... I did exactly as written in the 4 first steps.
>>
>>62107452
I'd use a 10 year old version of Firefox if there were no other way to run Tree-style Tabs. Seriously, that should be built into the browser.

Now I'm torn between editing config to use AdNauseam with PaleMoon to spite the furfag for actually advertising it on his forum and /g/ or going WaterFuck, probably former.

You can modify Pale Moon not to block this, though.

Just retried with a clean Firefox profile. Still the same issue. I don't see what I could get wrong, it's simple as pie. Well it's probably doing the job anyway; I'm just a little sad I can"t see the results.
>>
>>62107625
yeah, i could put myself at risk by disabling the blocklist or setting it to 3 just because the main developer is a faggot. And who knows what addons will get banned by him in the future.

Not him but I know this to be true, it's buried somewhere in the forum. It's not exactly what anon claims it is though. They're just trying to figure out how much of nufox they can adopt without ruining the existing ecosystem.

>i'm aware that i can use nightly for that or waterfox,
Actually you can do that on vanilla firefox for linux. Or on a special build for Windows, but who cares about wincucks, right?

>post a sauce
Google Basilisc browser and XUL unified platform.

>plus palemoon has palemoon commander
there are addons like that for firefox

>>62107452
Modern Firefox supports old XUL API
PLUS
I repeat
PLUS
webextensions

Nobody's forcing it on you (not on Firefox ESR, and not on Firefox 55 and the upcoming Firefox 56)

What's wrong in supporting something extra, something nice and neat, however underpowered it may seem?

Tree Style Tabs is working alright in current Firefox

>>62107997
>not exactly
Yes it is. Dont overestimate the furries, they don't have enough time and manpower to strip Firefox off webextensions support, besides, it's not needed, and even harmful, considering than some extensions are already partly webext, and also that itś beneficial for some extensions
>>
>>62107997
Too bad they are to stupid/incompetent/underpowered to fork firefox 55 ;_;

Firefox 55 is by far the best firefox I've every used, I guess.
Very fast, startlingly fast restarts with sessions with hundreds of tabs, containers, containerization, e10s working like a charm.
>>
>>62108026
>>62108054
>Yes it is
It's not. They went to the trouble of forking it just before they started stripping legacy code. Why would they create more work for themselves of they are in such dire straits as you claim?
>>
>>62108085
Thats what Im saying. Webextensions support is gonna be left intact, https://blog.mozilla.org/addons/2016/11/18/webextensions-in-firefox-52/ I suppose, nothing to say of Australis.

Btw, the reason they went to the trouble of forking it is that with Firefox deprecating XUL and using Rust more and more it's becoming very hard for them to maintain a fork of FF 27
>>
>>62108026
>Actually you can do that on vanilla firefox for linux. Or on a special build for Windows, but who cares about wincucks, right?
So i can't do this with firefox vanilla

>Google Basilisc browser and XUL unified platform.
But Pale Moon will be supported, XUL unified platform or basilisk is another browser, so i can stick with pm.

>there are addons like that for firefox
good point

i don't care about firefox 55, xul will die with firefox 57, wich is a matter of 2 or 3 months, then no more tree style tab because the webextensions are inferior to XUL. Using firefox ESR just posticipate the problem, but maybe for that time the API will be extendend, we will see.
Plus all the other problems wich i mentioned in the other post.
>>
>>62108190
>So i can't do this with firefox vanilla
You can do it on LInux right away, if you are a wincuck, you'll have to install a special build provided by Mozilla.

>But Pale Moon will be supported, XUL
Good luck with that.

Using pale meme just posticipates the problem as well, ain't no way they are getting backports of security fixes when it's all in Rust and doesn't support XUL anymore. They can't maintain it on their own without Mozilla patches, really.
>>
>>62107660
>>62107162
Shit browser then. Dunno what else to tell you.
>>
>>62108232
>Using pale meme just posticipates the problem as well
At least in the meantime i'll still have xul and full themes support

Seeing the timing of mozilla for everything rewriting firefox in rust will require years. They took years just for having a x64 build stable, i don't know then they started, but i remember i tried their nightly builds x64 when they still called them minefield.

>They can't maintain it on their own without Mozilla patches, really.
Again this meme
>>
>>62108339
It's not a mene pal. Ever tried reporting a bug? Basically they only thing they do is port whatever security patches they can from Firefox ESR channel

If a browser displayed "kill all white cis men" and meant it when you launched it would you use it? No. A browser that is not for everybody is compromised because the policies behind it can't be trusted.
