It's a matter of preference. Some of us care about software freedom and use linux for that reason. Some of us have specific needs of either linux itself or something that only runs on linux. And some might not actually give that much of a damn, they just like the customizability of linux a lot.

If someone is yelling at you for using windows 10, it's usually for one of these two reasons:
1. They care about software freedom and strongly oppose the usage of proprietary software like windows;
2. They know windows 10 is a pile of shit and would generally want you to use ANYTHING else.

But considering this is /g/, there's also the third possibility: autism.

To make you feel more at home in the /g/net. Linux distros are usually much "lighter" to use for general use (web browsing, watching your animus, etc.) than Windows, but for anything else Linux is just a pain in the ass.
