You don't need anything faster, it will be placebo or overkill.
If you really have money to waste, go ahead, but it's not going to be really faster.

you could just pick up a used 4790k for around $230 and save the huge expensive mobo+ram upgrade for when intel have actually substantially improved their single core performance - be sure to look up benchmarks for things relevant to you though of course

Thought about that but I'll be paying about 250€ for a used 4790k.

Plus, I need to upgrade the ram to 16gb, therefore I need to sell my 2x4GB modules because fuckhuge cooler and buy 2x8GB DDR3 modules which are expensive as fuck

I went from a 4560 to a 1700 and I am loving it. Especially for recording while gayman and editing/rendering said videos.

honestly a 4790k to a 7700k isn't a huge improvement but if you have to sell and buy more ddr3 ram I understand where you're coming from

honestly I'm a 5820k and if I didn't get it for as cheap as I did (it cost the same as a 4790k new, as a matter of fact) I'd be a little butthurt given how good the 1800x looks and performs
if you want single core performance intel is still king but not by much, other than that ryzen still has some memory issues afaik (but 7700k still benefits massively from faster ram too, just like everything else below intel hedt with their godtier memory controllers)
