Screwdrivers are technology

What is the best screwdriver set on the market?
>>
>>62038535
An actual screwdriver, not one of those toys with a changeable bit. Enjoy losing bits, and losing torque because of movement between the bit and the handle.
>>
>>62038614
enjoy being a raging autistic faggot

/diy/ ->
>>
>>62038535
this belongs on /diy/ using human context analysis
>>
>>62038614
This. There are standards for screwdriver tip sizes, so get a good set that covers most of what you'll need, and buy the rest as necessary.

Personally I buy Felo and Bondhus.
>>
>>62038660
Not op but i was thinking of getting one of the heavily shilled ifixit kit , are they honestly Any good? (60$ one)
>>
>>62038693
If it's made in China you're buying Harbor Freight/Wal-Mart with a rebrand.
>>
Go for wera, or beta, both make decent gear.
>>
>>62038713
Isn't Craftsman made in China now too?
>>
>>62038751
Yes. Sears sold off the Craftsman brand which is why you can buy it practically anywhere now. Lowes, Home Depot, and Harbor Freight all carry the same warranty now so Craftsman is pointless.

one driver to screw them all.

>t. toddler with babby tools
>>
>>62038614
WRONG.

Bit screwdrivers are fucking awesome:
- The magnet inside makes screws stick.
- Far more compact and light weight than carrying an equivalent set of dedicated screwdrivers.
- Can exchange bits with electric screwdrivers.
- Can use extensions.

>Enjoy losing bits
Never lost a single bit because I take care of my shit.
But even so, just buy a set of spares - bits are cheap.

>losing torque because of movement between the bit and the handle.

wut????

once you try ratcheted ones, everything else is shit.

I work as an IT tech and picked up the set of these after seeing the review. would recommend.
>>
>>62038829
>no torx
dropped.

Nah, it's a pretty neat idea.
If the handle is still sturdy despite being hollow we might have a winner.
>>
>>62038941
I like the hex shaft.

Why don't all screwdrivers have that?
It seems so obvious and probably costs next to nothing to add.
>>
>>62038535
You're asking a board of literal (not the meme) numales (not the meme either). You think they do anything by hand or know fuck all about tools?

If you want something really nice look at PB Swiss. A little cheaper look at Wera or Wiha. And if you don't give a fuck just get something with a Snap On logo.

Gedore and Felo are nice too.
>>
>>62039207
>You think they do anything by hand or know fuck all about tools?
Just replaced struts and brake pads 2weeks ago. #notall/g/
>>
>>62038941
>>62038829
Are either of the wiha or rolgear magnetized?
>>
>>62039207
You're thinking about millennials in general, not /g/ specifically.
>>
My good ole Klein 11 in 1 has served me well and I've beat the hell out of it
At worse the hex body that holds the bits got bent and I just tossed them in a table vice and straightened that out real quick
>>
>>62039035
>Why don't all screwdrivers have that?
It's definitely more expensive since you can't easily roll it during the manufacturing operations.

>>62039406
>Are either of the wiha or rolgear magnetized?
Reolgear is. Magnet is amazingly strong actually. It's one of the things I love about it since I never drop screws into expensive servers.
>>
>>62038535
Just look at the best japanese scewdrivers and forget about modern untraditional numale german products
>>
>>62038535
Check out some of AVE's videos on YT also good for a laugh if you find Canadians funny.

>>
>>62040958
does it have micro + and - type screws? I can't find a good screwdriver for those that is small enough, doesn't fall loose from the handle after a year, and has a proper handle you can hold without it tearing the skin off your hands.

Fucking what? And how much torque do you need on a screwdriver?
>>
>>62043232
Exactly the bit is going to slip and the head will get stripped before you run out of torque you could apply. That dude is a fag.

These cheap 6 in 1 screwdrivers you can get at the counter of every hardware store. They last forever and you can just replace the bits if you're a subhuman that ruins them.

t. had to fish so many screws from the guts of helicopters because of this exact shit

I have a socket screw driver with changeable bits and it's incredible for day to day stuff. If I get a tough screw though I will get the old fashioned one out to avoid ruining the socket

the rolgear has a hex bolt on the driver to put a spanner around if you need more torque and all the other links have what look like flat cutouts on the handle to fit a wrench onto, if you're struggling for torque you're doing something wrong
the problem with suggesting the square handles as you did here >>62044596 is that they have the same problem all the rubber handled screwdrivers have: once they get oily you lose all grip and torque, the only type of handle that does well with oil is a wooden handle screwdriver with the lacquer coating removed

either way I think most people in this thread are talking about electronics and not mechanics, there's almost never a need for more torque outside of what the driver itself can provide (shitty bit or wrench screwdrivers excluded)

>>62042609
I have a singular full size and precision screwdriver from wera, they both suffer from the same problems in that the rubber grip position sucks and the ergonomics generally suck as a result, the full size ones you can kind of get away but in both cases you usually need to grip the hex end to get a good amount of torque or hold the screwdriver in an odd way to get your hand to line up with the rubber grip, it's not a huge issue and they're a solid brand to buy from though, I only mention this because I saw this style of wiha precision ones that look like a reasonable alternative - not to sound like a wiha shill or anything

Do you like to line your screw drivers up from smallest to largest?

After you line them up, do you like to shit in a diaper while looking at furry porn on your CRT monitor?
>>
>>62047968
Pleb. I've always used a random screwdriver lying around the home. Would like something that won't allow the screws to fall right off the driver

Would it be possible to make a universal screwdriver that works with any screw? I'm thinking along the lines of one of these, but with smaller, finer pins at the end of the screwdriver.
>>
>>62048993
Wouldn't be very strong.
